Emily Packard Ready to Return for Race #2 of the Southern New England Triple-header at Seekonk Speedway

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – After missing the Speedway 51 race to attend a family member’s graduation, Emily Packard is anxious to get back into her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels sponsored race car at Seekonk Speedway. “I can’t wait to get back in the car,” said the 19-year old. “I have missed being in the car, and I am really looking forward to going to Seekonk for the second race of the Southern New England Triple-Header.” Earlier this year ACT announced the addition of the Southern New England Triple-header, where local drivers from those three tracks can showcase their talent against the ACT tour regulars. The first race was held at the New London/Waterford Speedbowl, where Packard brought home a twelfth place finish. The final round will be run at Thompson Speedway, the last race of the American Canadian Tour season. A separate point fund has been set-up and at the conclusion of the race at Thompson, someone will be crowned the Triple-header Champion.

The East Montpelier driver is no stranger to the 1/3 mile paved oval, running her Allison Legacy car there. “I am excited to return to Seekonk,” said Packard, “It’s been a few years since I’ve run there but I have always enjoyed racing at that track.” This will be Packard’s first time running her late model at Seekonk Speedway, but she is confident that they will have a great car again this weekend. “We had a great car at Devil’s Bowl, one that I really thought we could contend with,” Emily said, “but we got caught up in a mess in the heat race and that just set us back for the feature race. The Polewarczyk’s have been working on the car the past few weeks and they are confident that we are going to have another great car this weekend.”

“I am just hoping that this week we can have some good luck,” said Emily. “We have picked poorly during the draw, giving us bad starting spots in the heats, which equated to bad starting positions in the race. The cars have been great, but my finishes don’t reflect just how good a car we have had. My confidence remains high that we will break this bad luck streak, and I am looking for that to happen this week.”

The American Canadian Tour late models will take the track for qualifying heats at 6 pm. Later that evening the ACT cars will line up for 150 lap feature race.
