Stafford Speedway Releases Late Model & Limited Late Model Rules for 2018

(Stafford Springs, CT)—With the 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season now concluded, Stafford Speedway officials have released their 2018 rules for its Late Model and Limited Late Model divisions. Each rulebook has been released with minimal changes from 2017 and those changes are highlighted below.

Stafford’s Late Model division has 5 changes from the 2017 rules. The first change deals with rule 20G-3.1.2 REAR SPOILERS which states the rear spoiler must be 5” in height and 60″ in width. The top 3″ in height of the rear spoiler must be clear polycarbonate.
The second rule changes deals with rule 20G-3.10 BUMPERS/BUMPER COVERS which makes rear bars mandatory to help create a better alignment of all “front bumper -to-rear bumper” contact, two bars made of 1 ¼” OD round magnetic steel tubing must be added to the fuel saver bar, and connect to the bottom of the main rear bumper bar. These two bars may have one 90 degree bend in them, and may be bolted or welded in place. These are the only bars that will be exposed from the bumper cover.

The third change deals with rule 20E-5.10.12 CARBURETOR SPACER which states that the Big Haus U.S.A. spacer #001 must be used as the carburetor spacer.

The fourth change deals with rule 20G-10.8 TIRES and states that the tire compound for the 2018 season is to be determined.
The final change deals with rule 20G-12.3 SHOCKS and states that front shocks must be installed so that the shock can extend a minimum of 2” when car is at ride height and rear shocks must be installed so that the shock can extend a minimum of 2” when car is at ride height.
The Limited Late Model division has only 3 changes from the 2017 season. The first change deals with rule 20G-3.10 BUMPERS/BUMPER COVERS which makes rear bars mandatory to help create a better alignment of all “front bumper -to-rear bumper” contact, two bars made of 1 ¼” OD round magnetic steel tubing must be added to the fuel saver bar, and connect to the bottom of the main rear bumper bar. These two bars may have one 90 degree bend in them, and may be bolted or welded in place. These are the only bars that will be exposed from the bumper cover.
The second rule change deals with rule 20F-10.7 WHEELS which allows for 8” rims to be used on both the left and right hand sides of the car and that 7” rims are also permitted on the left and right hand sides but must be the same offsets.

The final change deals with rule 20G-12.3 SHOCKS and states that front shocks must be installed so that the shock can extend a minimum of 2” when car is at ride height and rear shocks must be installed so that the shock can extend a minimum of 2” when car is at ride height.
