WINCHESTER, N.H. – Todd Patnode (Swanzey, NH) made a late-race pass to earn his third NHSTRA Modified feature of the year Saturday (September 12) at Monadnock Speedway.

The high-banked speedplant completed its 13th event of the season Saturday, and when all was said and done, one driver had taken her first victory lap of the year, Aaron Fellows (Croydon, NH) had stormed to his track-high eleventh feature win, and the sizzling Curtis twins, Jaret and Chase, were again tied atop the Street Stock title race.

The Six Shooter division made its maiden Monadnock run Saturday, with southern-staters Brandon Mailhot (Epping, NH) and Adam Knowles first and second under the flags, and Granite State Mini Cup ace Skeeter Beerce was dominant in both his heat and feature races.

WINCHESTER, N.H. – Justin Bonsignore has Monadnock Speedway pretty well figured out. Sunday, the Empire State star won the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Wade Cole Memorial 200 at the storied high-banked quarter-mile.

It was Bonsignore’s third Whelen Tour victory at Monadnock, duplicated big scores here in 2013 and 2014, the latter the famed all-green 200-lapper. When Bonsignore won that one, in fact, Sunday’s main event namesake, Wade Cole, was in the field, as was open-wheel legend Ted Christopher.

WINCHESTER, N.H. – There was no dominant driver in Saturday’s Modified twinbill on the high banks of Monadnock Speedway.

Ben Byrne (Deerfield, Ma) and Todd Patnode (Swanzey, NH) each won a 35-lap NHSTRA feature but, like everyone else in the 22-car field, took a beating in one or the other go-rounds.

Tough nights? They were abundant, Trevor Bleau was bounced around to 16th and 14th place finishes, and Matt Kimball, although second in the nightcap, left the track knowing he could have won both races.

Street Stock ace Tommy O’Sullivan (Wilbraham, Ma) earned his first victory lap of the summer August 22, while Aaron Fellows won his track-high ninth 2020 main event. Timmy Leblanc (Hinsdale, NH) scored his second victory, and Chris Davis (Winchester, NH), who’d blown up three engines the previous four weeks, also won for the second time.

BYRNE TOPS HOMETRACK MODS SATURDAY, AUG. 15, AT MONADNOCK

WINCHESTER, N.H. – Ben Byrne won the one he absolutely needed to, and led for 58 laps in the other one Saturday, August 15, at Monadnock Speedway.

The Deerfield, Mass. star won his fourth NHSTRA Modified feature in week nine of the 2020 racing season at the high-banked oval, staying barely alive in the Mod Squad’s championship points standings, and then led the first 58 go-rounds of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series big dance before giving way to Les Hinkley.

Byrne was one of a half dozen Monadnock weekly racing series gunners competing in both Modified events.

MONADNOCK SPEEDWAY TO HOST RACE THREE OF 2020 TRI TRACK SEASON

MONADNOCK SPEEDWAY TO HOST RACE THREE OF 2020 TRI TRACK SEASON

RETURN TO NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR COMPETITIVE NIGHT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

By Kyle Souza/Souza Media

SEEKONK, Mass. — The Tri Track Open Modified Series returns to competition this Saturday, August 15, for race three of the 2020 season at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire. This is the second stop at the high-banked oval this season, and if the first one was any indication, fans won’t want to leave their seat until the finish checkered flag and beyond.

On July 5, Craig Lutz used a bump-and-run to get around Les Hinckley in a final dash to the finish line, bringing fans to their feet, and creating a bit of frustration between some of the top contenders. Now, as the season hits the middle of August, these two could be headed straight for a rematch. But they won’t be the only top contenders when Tri Track takes the green flag on Saturday.

Matt Hirschman, who has 12 career Tri Track wins, including the SBM at Star Speedway earlier this year, is coming back looking to rebound from a performance he wasn’t happy with last time at Monadnock. Although the driver of the No. 60 finished seventh, Hirschman wasn’t pleased with the way the car handled. After dominating at Star, he’s heading to Monadnock looking to pounce.

Monadnock Regulars Look To Steal The Show

BYRNE, KIMBALL, ROBBIE AMONG LOCALS WHO LOOK TO EARN TRI TRACK CHECKERED FLAG

By Kyle Souza

SEEKONK, Mass. — When the Tri Track Open Modified Series rolls into Monadnock Speedway this Saturday, August 15, the race will be a battle between some of the Tri Track stars and Monadnock regulars. Monadnock runs a weekly Modified division as part of their NASCAR program, and multiple of the competitors will be jumping up to the Tri Track Series looking to defend their home-turf in the 100-lap feature.

Ben Byrne, who is a three-time winner in the NHSTRA Modified weekly division this year, has shown his strength multiple times in the past with Tri Track. Byrne was a frontrunner in the race last year, and on July 5, he charged to the front of the field, taking the lead on lap 33, and holding the top spot through a caution period on lap 64. Byrne would lose the lead but settle for a third-place finish after Les Hinckley and Craig Lutz got together racing for the lead in the final corner, with Lutz pushing to the win.

Byrne feels like he needs some redemption after showcasing the speed under the hood in the last few Tri Track races at Monadnock and not coming away with the checkered flag.
