14 year old Reid Lanpher of Manchester was not very happy after being told by NELCAR officials that he needed to start from the back of the Amsoil Legends Car Tour Race at Unity Speedway Saturday night . Lanpher had started 5th in his heat and finished 2nd so was expecting to start 2nd on the inside row for the feature. He had forgot that the last time the tour visited Unity he brought home a then career best 2nd place feature. The NELCAR rules state that the top 3 finishers in the feature start from the back when the tour returns to the track. So what did Lanpher do? He hoped in his 7 year old Legends car (that was the oldest on the track) and drove it to the front to pick up his 2nd win on the tour this summer. Last month, Lanpher became the 16 year old tours youngest feature winner ever and made history at NHMS as its youngest non kart winner ever.

In 8 starts on the tour this year, Lanpher has 2 wins, a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th, a 5th and two 6th place finishes which normally would be good enough to be at or near the top of the points standings. However, Lanpher is too young to race at Beach Ridge so he has missed 4 races there and one at Star Speedway. He is still inside the top 10 in points. This weekend Lanpher will do double duty as he runs at NHMS on Saturday with the NELCAR tour and then sees Hudson Speedway for the first time on Sunday. On Sunday Lanpher will drive the Ricci Race Cars Pro Stock in the Granite City Classic as part of the Granite State Pro Stock Series. For more information please visit reidlanpher.com
