Beech RidgeScarborough, ME – Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by rookie Evan Beaulieu, of Durham. Saturday night was the last points night for all the drivers to gain their needed points to capture their division’s championship.

In the Pro Series division, veteran Mike Rowe, of Turner, maintained his point lead throughout the night to take home the championship over Dan McKeage, of Gorham. Don Morse made a couple late-race passes to capture the Sport Series championship over Scarborough’s Garrett Hall. Naples Cole Watson, avoided a early race incident to maintain his point lead over Lewis Anderson, of Buxton, to take home the Wildcat championship. In his second year of NASCAR Nite racing, Brandon Barker, of Windham edged Scarborough’s Shawn Brackett to bring home his first career Road Runner championship.

At the drop of the green, Beaulieu paced the 15-car field to the green flag and took the lead over Saco’s Steve Jones going into the first corner. Beaulieu led until a caution on lap 14 bunched the field back together. By the caution, Tyler King, of Livermore falls was able to charge his way into the runner-up spot after starting in his 5th starting spot.

On the restart, Beaulieu and King battled side-by-side for the top spot, however Beaulieu maintained his lead over King and the rest of the field. By the halfway mark, Newcastle’s Charlie Colby passed King for the second spot and tried to run down Beaulieu, but was unsuccessful as Beaulieu led until the checkered flag.

After gaining experience all year long in his rookie year, Beaulieu led every lap in the feature event en route to his first career NASCAR Nite Pro Series feature victory.
