Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Dan McKeage of Gorham, Maine, finished sixth in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series 40-lap event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 31. McKeage finished second in the final Pro Series point standings, just 18 points out of the 2013 track championship. Naughty 40 Racing teammate and Pro Series rookie Evan Beaulieu of Durham, Maine, won the final NASCAR event of the season for his first career victory in the division, while McKeage’s No. 40 Top Gun Construction Chevrolet had a good run – starting 12th in the 15-car field and working his way into the Top-10 before the first and only caution period of the race, just past the halfway point of the feature. The car tightened up in the closing stages of the event, and McKeage settled for the sixth-place finish.

DAN, HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP THE SEASON AS A WHOLE?
I had a great time. Really, going into it – we finished horribly last year. Coming into it with a new car, it was really fast on opening day. I had as far as I’m concerned the best team out here, hands-down. Everybody was all about making the team the best it could be and winning or losing with dignity.

I couldn’t be more proud of them.

IT SEEMED LIKE YOU HAD A GOOD CAR, BUT THAT IT JUST FELL OFF AT THE END.
That’s really it right there. It was really good early, but it got a little bit tighter. It really wasn’t that bad, but it just wasn’t as good as the guys in front of me.

HOW DID IT FEEL TO SEE EVAN BEAULIEU WIN HIS FIRST RACE IN THE PRO SERIES?
I was ecstatic. Evan and his dad have been working really hard all year. Since we put the deal together, I’d wanted them to finish really good, of course. He’s a good young talent, and I’m super-glad to be a part of helping him make it to the next level.
