Canaan, NH. – Coming off a highly competitive race a week ago at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire, The Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to the famed Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA, this Sunday afternoon May, 4, for the first of three appearances this season for New England’s premier open-wheel racing series, at the historic Bay State facility.

The event, the Sims Spring Kickoff Classic, the 24th appearance by the series at Seekonk, will feature a 100-lap green flag modified race with drivers from throughout the Northeast expected.

Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, CT, takes a one-point lead in the early season point standings to Seekonk over Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT. Pasteryak has two wins to his credit at Seekonk.

Reigning series champion Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon, Valley, PA, winner of last weeks race at Monadnock, is seeking his second Seekonk victory.

Justin Bonsignore, of W.Islip, NY, and Steve Masse, of Bellingham, MA, podium finishers after a torrid battle are both expected Sunday.

Additional young guns expected to make the haul Sunday include Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, MA, Dylan Kopec, of Palmer, MA, Max Zachem, of Preston, CT, and ‘Mr. Rooter’ Rookie of the Year candidates, Rob Richiardi, of Easton, MA, and Mike Willis Jr, of Grantham, NH.

The Seekonk track traditionally produces highly competitive fast paced VMRS races. Of the 23 events contested to date, 13 different drivers have visited victory lane. Les Hinckley, Vinny Annarummo, and Louie Mechalides, have three wins each.

Sunday’s program, marking the 69th year of operation at Seekonk, gets the green flag at 1:00. PM.
