Speedway95For the second time in the four races run in the Dysart’s Late Models at Speedway 95 this season, the feature race was won by mere inches when Brenton Parritt of Steuben held off a late race charge from 2013 champion Andy Saunders of Ellsworth, who was driving a car borrowed from Orrington’s Jim Robichaud. Parritt started the 40 lap feature event in the 8th spot, took the lead from Corinth’s Lloyd Nickerson on lap 7, and led the rest of the way to the checkers. Meanwhile, Saunders and Ryan Deane of Winterport worked their way through the field and became locked in a lengthy battle for the second spot, which Saunders finally won on lap 35. Saunders then set his sights on Parritt, but ran out of laps as Parritt crossed the finish line with his bumper just ahead of Saunders when the checkered flag flew. Saunders finished second with Deane in third. Nick Jenkins of Milo finished fourth with Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington finishing in fifth after recovering from a lap 9 incident with Nickerson that sent both cars to the rear of the field on the restart. John Kalel II and Nickerson won the night’s Late Model qualifiers.

Kris Matchett of Skowhegan made it four for four in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman division after passing early leader Emma Libby of Glenburn on the 13 lap of the 25 lap feature. Libby then ran in the second spot, holding off a challenge from Glenburn’s D.C. Alexander, until a transmission failure caused her to leave the race on lap 21, handing the second spot to Alexander. Third went to Eddington’s Jay Robichaud in his first appearance of the season in the division with Mike Overlock of Franklin and Sean Johnson of Oakland rounding out the top five. Matchett also won the heat race for the division.

Alex Berry of Harrington won for the fourth time this season in the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets after starting the race in the 6th spot and taking the lead from Cornville’s Matt Kimball following a caution on lap 9. Kimball was then engaged in a battle with Glenburn’s Jordan Pearson for the second spot, while Berry maintained his lead to the checkers. Kimball took the second spot when the checkers fell, with Pearson finishing in third. Fourth spot went to Corinth’s Richard Jackson with Jim Bragdon of Corinth finishing fifth after recovering from an early race skirmish with Bob Seger Jr. Seger Jr. won the night’s qualifier.

After missing last week’s race in the Coca Cola Company Sport-Fours to attend the birth of his daughter, Zach Audet of Skowhegan came back ready to race and led all 25 laps of the feature after starting on the pole. 2013 Champion Ted Ryder of Carmel held off his brother-in-law Darren Durrell of Newburgh for the second spot as Durrell finished third. Fourth went to 12 year old Dylan Street of Old Town while Garett Hayman of Milford came from deep in the field to finish fifth. Audet and Hayman won the night’s qualifiers for the Sport-Fours.

Racing action continues at Maine’s Family Fun Track on Saturday June 7 at 7:00 p.m. with racing in the Dysart’s Late Models, Darling’s Ford Sportsman, Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets and Coca-Cola Company Sport-Fours.
