Sweet O'DonnellBarre, VT – As the heart of summer nears, the title hunts in all three stock car racing divisions at Thunder Road International Speedbowl are heating up. Just two events remain before the double-point Mid-Season Championships, beginning with the Northfield Savings Bank event this Thursday, July 3.

Two-time “King of the Road” Nick Sweet of Barre and defending “King of the Road” Derrick O’Donnell of North Haverhill, NH are door handle-to-door handle at the top of the Late Model standings. The pair is separated by just one point and surprisingly both drivers are still looking for their first wins of the season.

Right behind the former champions are John Donahue, Jason Corliss and Cody Blake who are all within striking distance of their first career titles. Two more former champions in Dave Pembroke and Phil Scott also sit less than twenty points out of the lead.

Waterbury’s Jason Woodard continues to pace the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen field. He leads Brendan Moodie of Wolcott by 17 points, but Moodie has been slowly chipping away at the point lead. George May, Doug Crowningshield and Jeff Bousquet among others can’t be counted out yet.

The Allen Lumber Street Stock division has seen four different point leaders in the first six events of the season. Wolcott’s Jamie Davis holds the top spot this week after earning his second feature win of the season last Thursday. Defending Champion Bunker Hodgdon of Hardwick sits just two points back and continues to look for his first win of the season. Young Jaden Perry, Donny Yates, first time winner in 2014 Tyler Austin, and a host of others still have championship hopes.

All the stars of Thunder Road will continue their championship battles this Thursday, July 3 with Northfield Savings Bank Night. It will be a packed night with Kid’s race car rides from 4:00 to 4:40pm, racing action begins at 6:30pm, with holiday fireworks immediately following the evenings events. Regular admission is just $12 for adults, $3 for kids (ages 6 to 12), $25 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 kids) and kids under 6 are free.
