Veteran Kelly Moore, of Scarborough, captured his first NASCAR Nite Pro-Series victory of the 2014 season Saturday night.

Richard Pelton, of Scarborough, led the 19-car field to the green flag, however surrendered the lead to rookie Nick Cusack, also of Scarborough, going into the first corner. Cusack led the field until lap seven when Scarborough’s Mike Fowler captured the lead from Cusack.

Fowler a rookie in the division, opened up a multiple car length lead over Cusack and the rest of the field. By the halfway mark, both Kelly Moore and Dan McKeage had successfully made their way inside the top three. Both Moore and McKeage started inside the top ten.

A caution on lap 36 regrouped the field back together, and set up a four lap shootout between rookie Fowler and veteran Moore. The ensuing restart was devastating for both Fowler and Corey Bubar, of Windham as the outside lane came together and caused significant damage to both Fowler and Bubar.

After the damaging restart, it moved Cusack into the second position and Jay’s Dave Farrington into the third position. On the restart, Moore and Farrington were able to clear Cusack going into the first corner. Moore than opened up a three car-length advantage over Farrington and went on to lead the final four laps of the feature event.

For Moore it was his first win of the season and first win since June, 2013. Farrington, the current points leader was able to finish the night strong with a second place finish after starting 11th.
