brg-apw-08161401BRADFORD, VT – With the rain looming the Bradford Bull Dogs Benefit night sponsored by Swenson Insurance Saturday August 16, 2014 made it in the record books suffering only one delay due to the weather.

The second spoiler of the year in the DIRTcar Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds happened Saturday night when Bob Shepard found himself with 5 to go leading the pack to the checkers. Shepard celebrating his 63rd birthday this week couldn’t think of a better birthday present to give himself. Unfortunately for Shepard another shoe having suffered a two year dry run was on a mission and ready to take away the gold from anyone in his way. A rain delay on lap 19 changed the condition of the track, and Shepard while able to hold on to the lead for most of the event, found Sunn on lap 37 flying by on the outside. Sunn would lead the remaining three circuits and claim the checkers with Shepard holding on for second. Finishing in third was Richie Simmons with his best finish of the season. Completing the top five were Kevin Chaffee and Chris Donnelly.

It was all Earl the Squirrel Maxham in the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Pro Stock Sportsman Coupes. Maxham grabbed the lead after a complete restart and never looked back. Louie Cadwell worked his way up to the second place spot but was unable to set any challenges on the lead. Billy Simmons starting from the last spot having had to take a week off due to the birth of his baby daughter methodically worked his way to the front and by lap twelve found himself challenging Cadwell for the runner up spot. Simmonds grabbed the runner up spot from Cadwell on lap 25 and that would be the way crossed the line on the final lap. Jeff Robbins and Thomas Placey came home fourth and fifth.

The USAC DMA Midgets were off this week. They will be returning next week for Old Timers night sponsored by Sabil & Sons.

The Laquerre’s Sports Limited Late Models finally put on a great show for the fans making it 18 laps before a caution for a lone car spin out. Jason Giguere back from vacation moved to the lead half way thru the event with Rob Williams in tow. When the checkers waved Giguere claimed his sixth win of the season. Williams maintained the runner up position with James Fadden coming home in third. Mike Greene and Derek Stearns completed the top five.

A wild finish in the KDD NAPA Weglarz Property Service Ridge Runner Hornets and Fast Fours saw Cody Stearns able to capture the win over Mike Ryan and Charlie Lakin. The first Fast Four across the line was Rob Gioia. Chris LaForest and Jesse Durkee completed the top five.

In addition to the regular divisions the Granite State Mini Sprints and Sprint Cars of New England were on hand to offer some great racing excitement for the fans.

In the O’Reilly Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprints 500cc Chris Carbee claimed the win with Josh Boissoneau and Tom Chaffee in second and third. For the 600 cc division Kyle Belliveau came home the winner with Rich Crooker and Matt Seymour in second and third.

The WYKR Sprint Cars of New England started off slow with a wreck on lap one. When racing resumed Chris Donnelly was seen topless, having rolled his machine and then having to remove his wing to finish competition. While unable to pose a serious threat to the wings Donnelly held his own. Jacob Williams grabbed the checkers this time over Dan Douville and Kevin Chaffee. Clay Dow and Luke Greenwood rounded out the top five.
