troadBarre, VT – This Sunday, August 3 will see the 30th running of the M&M Beverage Enduro 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road. The “People’s Race” as it has become known features 200 laps of thrashing and crashing with no cautions. Over 50 drivers have already signed up for the event, including several notable Thunder Road competitors.

 

At 68 years of age, Don “Dipstick” Tofani of Plainfield has become a staple of the “People’s Race” and even won back in 1987. He has competed in every one of the 29 previous events and finished second in last year’s race.

Other notable entries include two former Thunder Road Late Model competitors in Jeff Spooner of Essex and Bob Eldred of Waterbury. Eldred claimed a top 20 in the 2013 running of the event.

 

A host of Thunder Road Rough Riders have filed entries including the LaForest brothers of Barre. Chris and Kevin combined have won every Rough Rider event so far in 2014. Driver’s education teacher Paul Dudley and fellow Rough Rider Mike Forsey have also sent in entries for the M&M Beverage Enduro 200. Forsey won the 2011 edition.

 

This Sunday, August 3 will be the 30th running of the M&M Beverage Enduro 200 plus the Allen Lumber Street Stock 50-lap specials. Post time is 6:00pm with the front gates opening at 3:00pm. Admission is just $12 for adults, $3 for kids (ages 6 to 12), kids under age 6 are free and a family ticket (2 adults, 2 kids) is just $25.
