PARRITT FAMILY TOPS SPEEDWAY 95 LATE MODEL ACTION

Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben won his career first Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 Saturday night, with his Uncle, Brenton Parritt of Steuben taking the second spot, and his father, Wayne Parritt Sr. finishing in third. Parritt Jr. started the 40 lap event on the pole, and battled with Deane Smart of Bradley side by side for the first 16 laps, until the caution flag slowed the field for a turn 3 spin by Winterport’s Ryan Deane. On the restart, Parritt Jr. pulled away from Smart and led the rest of the way to the checkers. While Parritt Jr. drove to his first win in the division, Uncle Brenton was moving up from his fourth place starting position to second. Meanwhile, Wayne Sr. was picking up positions from his 11th place start, until, on lap 24, it was all three Parritts in the top three. It remained that way to the end, with Smart holding on for a fourth place finish. John Curtis Jr. of Hermon finished fifth.

D.C. Alexander of Glenburn picked up his first win of the season in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman division by overtaking points leader Kris Matchett of Skowhegan when Matchett slipped momentarily coming out of turn two on the 23rd lap of the 25 lap feature. Matchett hung on for a second place finish, with pole sitter, Ryan Beale of Cherryfield finishing third, after leading the first four laps of the race. Deane Smart of Bradley finished fourth with Mike Overlock of Franklin in fifth.

Jordan Pearson won his fifth feature of the season in the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets after inheriting the lead from Holden’s Keith Ogden when his car broke 8 laps into the race. Pearson led until the caution flew on lap 17. On the restart, Alex Berry of Harrington raced side by side with Pearson until Pearson finally went to the front for good on lap 23. Berry finished in the second spot, followed by Chris King of Burnham in third. Derek Terrell of Plymouth finished fourth in his first outing in the division with Cornville’s Matt Kimball finishing fifth.

It only took 6 laps for Zach Audet of Skowhegan to come from the 11th starting position to take the lead from pole sitter Garett Hayman of Milford in the Coca Cola Sport-Four division. Audet held the lead to the end, but had to fight off a late race challenge from Newburgh’s Darren Durrell in the closing laps. Durrell started the event in the 10th spot and took over the second spot from Hayman on lap 18. A lap 22 restart saw 12 year old rookie Dylan Street of Old Town get by Hayman on the outside while Audet and Durrell battled for the lead up front. Street finished third, his first top three of the season. Carmel’s Ted Ryder also passed Hayman on the restart, placing him in fourth at the finish. Hayman finished fifth.

Highlighting next week’s program will be race #3 of the Hopkins Landscaping and Paving 50 lap series for the Dysart’s Late Models. Action begins at 7:00.
