POLEWARCZYK, MACDONALD, WELCH FIRST TO ENTER INVITATIONAL
Waterbury, VT – Two former winners and a new young gun were the first to accept invitations to the 6th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational to be held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Invitations were first sent to those who qualified throughout the season by winning either an ACT US event or Série ACT event in Quebec.
In 2010, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr (Pole), Hudson, New Hampshire, charged from the 27th starting position on the grid and ran away with an impressive win on the “Magic Mile”. “We had a great finish to the 2010 season. This Invitational win was the icing on the cake. I think we won five races that year and finished second to Brian (8-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar from Williston, VT) in the ACT title battle for the American Canadian Tour Championship (ACT). Winning in front of the huge crowd, in my home state, was about as good as it gets,” said Pole. Pole is currently leading the ACT Championship hunt with just two races remaining on the schedule.
The “Outlaw”, Eddie MacDonald from Rowley, MA is one of the most recognized and accomplished racers in New England. Racing primarily on the NASCAR K&N Series, MacDonald is a three-time winner of the Bond Auto ACT Invitational, winning every other year from the inaugural win in 2009, and for a third time in 2013. “Eddie Mac and long-time crew chief Rollie Lachance are good no matter where they unload a race car. Certainly Eddie is schooling lots of ACT drivers at NHMS where he can thrill a crowd starting as deep as 27th or 28th and marching to the front in just 50 laps. He is equally impressive with his short track program,” said ACT President, Tom Curley.
This year is a transition year and the field will see lots of new young talent on display, Kyle Welch from Newport, NH won the Riverside New Hampshire event in June and received an automatic bid. Welch sits 9th in the season-long point chase. He will lead approximately a dozen of the new young guns to Loudon on the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend September 19-21, 2014.
A field of 43 regional short track stars of the popular American Canadian Tour will be part of a “Super Triple Header Saturday” of racing at NHMS, featuring the NASCAR Camping World Trucks, the NASCAR Whelan Modified Tour, and the Bond Auto ACT Invitational.
