345Thompson, CT- The Sunoco Modifieds will enjoy a double feature event on Thursday, September 4th, at one of the oldest NASCAR Home tracks in America, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) in Thompson, CT.

The ground-pounding, high-horsepower Sunoco Modifieds will run two separate 25 lap features on Thompson Night at the 5/8 mile, high speed facility, giving drivers a chance to gain ground in the point standings before the final event of the season, the World Series October 17-19. Ryan Preece sits atop the standings, just 16 points in front of Keith Rocco. Preece is coming off his season-worst finish, a fourth at the August 14th event, after picking up three straight victories. Todd Ceravolo is within striking distance in third place in the overall standings, 22 marks behind Preece. The most recent winner in the division, Kerry Malone, is fourth in points, with Keith McDermott completing the top five.

Joining the premier division at TSMP, the Late Models will run a 25 lap feature. Larry Gelinas has turned his season around, picking up a win in the last race, propelling the Buxton, ME, driver to third in the standings. Leading the way, the Brooklyn Farm + Pet/ Cady’s Tavern automobile of Glenn Boss has a 16 point advantage over Rick Gentes entering Thompson Night. Gelinas sits 24 points out of the lead, with Chris Curtis and Nick Ladyga fourth and fifth respectively.

Also on the card, the Xtramart Limited Sportsman will run a 20 lap feature. Corey Hutchings looks to make it three for his last three, as the Salem, CT driver has been on a tear. Hutchings added a win earlier in the year as well, but a couple of off nights has left him 6th in the overall standings. Scott Sundeen has been a model of consistency, keeping his Sundeen Furniture ride at the top of the pack. Sundeen is chased by Shawn Monahan, who is just 10 points out of the lead. Steve Kenneway is third, 40 marks behind Sundeen, with a tie for fourth between William Wall and Ryan Waterman.

The fourth division in action on September 4th, the Monster Mini Stocks will run a 15 lap feature event. Possibly the closest division between the top 5 in the point standings, the Monster Mini Stocks have seen 5 different winners in 6 races at TSMP. Eric Bourgeois grabbed the checkers on August 14, but Michael Viens paces the field in the championship standings, 10 points ahead of Jeff Moffat with two races remaining. Mike D. Viens finds himself in the third spot, with Steven Michalski and Joe Baxter completing the top 5.
