download (2)Barre, VT – The Thunder Road Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic scheduled for Sunday, August 31 has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Monday, September 1. Qualifying for the event got underway and the first three Late Model heats were completed before the rain came and postponed the remainder of the event. A total of 33 Late Models were on hand looking for one of the 30 starting spots in the 36th running of the event.

The Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic is the final event in deciding the 2014 “King of the Road” Late Model Championship. Defending Thunder Road Champion Derrick O’Donnell of North Haverhill, NH came into the event with a 22 point lead over two-time “King of the Road” Nick Sweet of Barre. Sweet unofficially gained six points over O’Donnell in the heats that were completed cutting the lead to just 16.

The remainder of the stock car racing program has been rescheduled for Monday, September 1 with the fourth and final Late Model heat set to roll out at 1:30pm. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will also be in action. The pits will open at 11:30pm and the front gate will open at 12noon.
