SPAFCO Posts Record $1100 Rookie of the Year Bonus for Both SK Modified® and Late Model Winners at Stafford Speedway for 2015

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Thanks to Ken Barry and SPAFCO Race Chassis and Parts, the race for the 2015 SK Modified® and Late Model Rookie of the Year titles at Stafford Motor Speedway will be more lucrative than ever. The SK Modified® and Late Model rookie of the year winners will each take home $1,100 for a total of $2,200.

“We’re happy to once again be the presenting sponsor of the Rookie of the Year awards,” said Ken Barry, owner of SPAFCO Race Chassis. “The teams at Stafford do a lot of business with us throughout the year with the parts truck in the paddock area and it’s great for us to be involved in the race program to be able to give something back. There was some great competition among the rookie drivers this season and we’re looking forward to seeing more great competition from the rookie drivers in 2015.”

“We appreciate the support of the rookie program at Stafford Speedway by SPAFCO, R.A.D. Automotive and T/A Engines with the contribution of an impressive $4700,” said Mark Arute, Stafford Speedway President / GM. “Their efforts, by far, make the rookie program one of the most lucrative in short track racing. We are proud to offer those incentives to the rookie drivers at Stafford.”

The 2014 season at Stafford Motor Speedway was a banner year for rookie drivers. There was at least one rookie winner in each of Stafford’s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. Chase Dowling and Ronnie Williams both made a successful transition from SK Lights to the SK Modified® ranks with both drivers finding their way to NAPA Victory Lane. Josh Wood, who was the defending Limited Late Model track champion, won a race in his rookie season of Late Model competition, while the SK Light division had the best rookie driver results of any of the weekly divisions. Four SK Light rookie drivers found their way to NAPA Victory Lane in 2014 with Branden Dion, Paul French, Stephen Kopcik, and Jeremy Sorel all winning races. Kopcik and Sorel were the leading rookie winners at Stafford in 2014 with 2 feature wins each and Sorel also claimed the SK Light track title. Cliff Saunders was the lone Limited Late Model rookie driver to win while Trace Beyer and Dan Dembek were winners in the DARE Stock division. In all, 54 rookie drivers earned championship points at Stafford with a total of 10 feature winners.
