VLF_9589Thompson, CT – Derek Griffith, the 18 year-old Hudson, NH native is looking to hang a Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Plaque in their trophy room come Monday morning.

Griffith, driver of the No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester Toyota Camry Pro Stock in the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) is competing in the 41st annual Icebreaker event and feels; this is their year to break out and grab and opening race victory at the historic 5/8thmile oval.

“We have gone down to Speedweeks at New Smyrna for the last couple years to perfect our set-up for these bigger tracks. New Smyrna Speedway is very similar to Thompson and we feel this really has helped our program over the last season and a half. The additional seat time can only help” remarked Griffith.

Derek finished in 8th place in both trips the GSPSS has made to Thompson Speedway and feels because of a few set-up improvements they have made over the off-season and with the help of long-time Crew Chief Louie Mechalides, this year they are poised to race for wins.

Derek explains, “Louie has always put a good piece underneath me, we found some more speed in the last couple months and let’s face it, we’ve finished second too many times. This is our year to show the fans what our race team is all about.”

The 41st annual Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Icebreaker is scheduled for April 11-12, 2015. Please check the track website for more information at thompsonspeedway.com.

The Derek Griffith race team would like to thank MOM’s of Manchester, LCM Racing, Tyngsboro Motors and FEP Insurance for returning as the main sponsors for 2015.
