Thompson, CT – The Granite State Pro Stock Series began the 2015 season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the IceBreaker, as Dillon Moltz and Reid Lanpher nabbed heat wins on Saturday.
Moltz, the 2014 Granite State Pro Stock Series Champion, led wire-to-wire to pick up the Sunoco Race Fuels/ MacLellan Metal Finishing heat win, after jumping out to a sizable lead at the start. Mike O’Sullivan, the 2013 GSPSS Champion, tried unsuccessfully to run Moltz down in the closing laps, with Brad Babb grabbing the third spot. Larry Gelinas and Tommy O’Sullivan rounded out the top 5.
Lanpher held off a hard charging Todd Stone to claim the second heat of the day. The Manchester, ME native cleared Mike Parks in the beginning laps, and gained enough real estate to keep Stone in his rear view mirror, who started sixth on the grid. Stone was followed by Parks, Josh King, and Derek Griffith.
Moltz drew pill number 4 on the redraw, putting Stone and Mike O’Sullivan on the pole for the 40-lap feature event.
The IceBreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will continue on Sunday, April 12. A Fan Appreciation Party will precede the event, beginning at 10:30AM. Feature racing begins at 12:35PM. For more information, visit www.gspss.net.
