tyfgbvcbfDarren Durrell of Newburgh and Andrew Crosby of Hermon led the early laps of the 20 lap Modified Enduro feature at Speedway 95 Wednesday night, but once Dustin Lancaster of Milo came from his 8th place starting spot and took the lead from Crosby on lap 8, the others were left to fight for second on back. Lancaster held the lead to the finish, winning his second feature in as many weeks. Crosby held on to take the second spot with Hampden’s Danielle Beal making a late race charge to finish third, almost catching Crosby in the process. Durrell, the pole sitter in the event, fell to fourth at the finish with outside pole sitter Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort coming in fifth. Crosby took the win in the qualifier held earlier in the evening.

Thirty-nine cars lined up for the RoadRunner feature, with Sam Betts of Bradley coming from a 19th place start to win his second feature of the young season. It was only bad luck on the part of Kenduskeag driver William McCullough that gave Betts the win, as McCullough was leading by a good margin with two laps to go when his right front wheel broke and sailed off into the turn four fence. Ellsworth’s Bradley Norris finished in second, followed by Hudson’s Donny Silva in third. The fourth place finisher was William’s brother, Brett McCullough, also from Kenduskeag, with William limping to the finish line on three wheels to take the fifth spot. Anthony Miles of Winterport, Donny Silva of Hudson and Sam Betts of Bradley each won a pre-race qualifier.

Marcus Dunn of Newburgh overcame an early race penalty for jumping the start to win the Stars of Tomorrow feature that was ended after the 20 minute time limit expired before all the scheduled laps were run. Nicholas Cota of Old Town finished in the second spot, with Lexie Roach of Brewer recovering from an early race spin to finish third. Fourth went to Scott Hunt of Glenburn who spun out with Roach in the same early race incident. Jordan Moulton for Holden finished fifth. Dunn also won the division’s qualifier.

The stunt event of the night for the RoadRunners was a “Double O” race, in which each deriver must circle the regular track and the smaller track in the infield in order to be scored as completing each lap. Phil Richardson of Hermon took the win, followed by Donny Silva of Hudson in second. Third went to Kevin Seekins of Frankfort, with Dustan Durrell of Newburgh and Henry Boudreau of Winterport rounding out the top five.

Racing continues at Speedway 95 on Saturday, June 27 when the Maine Outlaw Series of Maine will highlight the night’s activity by joining the track’s Darling’s Ford Sportsman division in a 50 lap feature. The Dysart’s Late Models, Coca-Cola Sport-Fours and the Pepsi Beverage Company Street Stocks will also be in action.
