Griffith in VL at Star 2015(Epping, NH) – Derek Griffith, the 18 year-old Hudson, NH native picked up another victory in Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) competition this past weekend at Star Speedway and set a series record in the process.

Griffith became the first driver to win three races in a single season on the fledgling series. Derek led all 100 laps, en route to his second consecutive victory and third in the last four GSPSS races.

15 Pro Stocks were at Star Speedway and Griffith had a fast car right off the trailer, Derek explains, “I know it seems like a broken record sometimes but Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] gave us another extremely fast, well handling race car. Louie, in my opinion is one of the best in the business, we are really gelling at the right time.”

Derek picked up his first career GSPSS victory earlier this year and has been on a tear ever since. The second victory of the year came in front of the hometown crowd at Hudson International Speedway. The latest victory this past weekend at Star puts the driver securely in the lead of the season-long point’s battle, which Derek has been having with the No. 29 of Barry Gray.

“We really don’t like to even look at the points right now, we just need to concentrate on each race, one-by-one. The points will work themselves out. I mean maybe we’ll take a look come September but not now.” Says Griffith.

Derek will look to go for three wins in a row as the series visits Speedway 51 in Groveton, NH for a special 151 lap event on July 4th. Derek talks about going 151 laps with the Granite State Pro Stock Series, “This race will really test the patience of a lot of the drivers on the series. If you use up your tires too soon, you’ll be struggling for the last third of the race. Our plan will be to find a groove and try to pace our No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester/FEP Insurance/Tyngsboro Motors Toyota Camry and be in the hunt for the last 50 laps.”
