fstdydfHarrington’s Andrew McLaughlin won the hotly contested 50 lap Hopkins Landscaping Series feature for the Dysart’s Late Models at Speedway 95 Saturday night after fighting a race long battle with Ryan Deane of Winterport for the win. McLaughlin won the pole for the feature by winning the earlier qualifying race and led from the drop of the green until the race’s only caution flew on lap 17 for a solo spin by D.C. Alexander of Glenburn. On the restart, Deane raced with McLaughlin for the lead, with the two racing side by side and swapping the lead back and forth until McLaughlin took it back on lap 23. Deane didn’t give up on the inside groove, and worked his way past McLaughlin, taking the lead on the 33rd lap. Deane led until lap 44, when McLaughlin passed Deane on the outside to take the lead back again, this time for good. Deane finished in second, with Milo’s Nick Jenkins finishing third, right behind the front two at the finish. Brenton Parritt of Steuben finished fourth, with Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben coming in fifth.

Trey Brown of Winterport, a 15 year old Rookie in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman Division, won his second feature of the season, leading all 25 laps, but only won by a car length. Kris Matchett of Skowhegan challenged Brown over the final three laps following a caution caused when Matchett and Shane Tatro of Levant made slight contact on the backstretch after running side by side behind Brown for second. As a result of the contact, Tatro spun into the infield, bringing out the race’s only caution. Following the restart, Brown was able to keep Matchett at bay for the final three laps for the win. Matchett finished second, followed by Deane Smart of Bradley in third. Tatro recovered to finish fourth with Ralph Melanson of Corinth finishing fifth.

Jason Trundy of Winterport took off from the pole and led all 25 laps of the Coca-Cola Sport-Four feature, but a late race caution on lap 23 closed the field up for the final sprint to the checkers. Trundy was able to hold off point’s leader Andrew Crosby of Hermon for the win, with Crosby finishing second. Third went to Ted Ryder of Carmel, with Kingman’s Brock Worster in fourth. Dustan Durrell of Newburgh finished fifth, after recovering from his solo spin in turn three that brought out the lap 23 caution.

In the Casella Waste Street Stocks, Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort started on the pole and won the caution free 25 lap feature by half a lap over the rest of the field. Zach Audet of Skowhegan worked up from a 6th place start to finish second, followed by Asa Jones of Sullivan in third. Fourth went to Jeff Alley of Machias with Bradley Norris of Ellsworth finishing fifth.

In Wicked Good Vintage Racing League action, Kevin Waterhouse of West Paris made a last lap dash to the checkers, passing Dick McPhail of Fairfield, with whom he had raced side by side for most of the 20 lap feature, to post the win in the Modified/Late Model division. McPhail finished in second with Dean Grant, who could only sit and watch the top two race side by side, finished third. Mark Theranault of Rumford finished fourth with Steve Kahler of Warren in fifth.

In the Outlaw division feature, Ken Robinson of E. Machias led all the way for the win, with Bob Guyon of Monmouth fighting off a persistent Kris Watson of Hermon to finish second. Watson was third, followed by Bradley’s Eric Pelletier in fourth and C.D. Farnsworth of Old Town finished fifth.
