THUNDER ROAD REGULARS DEFEND TURF IN MERCHANTS BANK 150

Waterbury, VT – The 13th annual Merchants Bank 150 will open the new season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, May 1, 2011. There is no track on the American Canadian Tour (ACT) schedule that presents a bigger challenge to the ACT regular touring teams than Thunder Road and its regular teams. As many as eight (8) former Thunder Road “King of the Road” champions are expected to be at the opening event.

Defending ACT Champion and 2011 point leader coming out of the opening event at Lee USA Speedway, Brian Hoar said, “I have had some pretty good success over the years at Thunder Road, I even won the King of the Road title in 1999, but that seems like a long, long time ago.”

Divisional Champions Lead 2011 Thunder Road Rookie Class

Barre, VT – The 2011 Thunder Road stock car season will see three divisional track champions enter the Rookie of the Year running at the next level. While the champions will lead the way, the majority of the rookie class will be made up of new faces at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement.”

“The 2011 rookie class is shaping up with a lot of new drivers, which is a different from seasons past. Normally we see a lot more movement through the divisions, but this season the new faces will add a new dynamic,” said Thunder Road Promoter Tom Curley. “It’s always exciting watching new drivers develop.”

Entering this weekend’s Crown Royal presents the Matthew & Daniel Hansen 400, Busch is not getting headlines for winning the points races, but he’s certainly doing some things right. COUNTRY MUSIC VOCALIST AJ JANSEN TO PERFORM NATIONAL ANTHEM AT CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler
will play host to country music artist AJ Jansen, “Country Music’s Rebel
Rose.” Jansen will perform the national anthem just prior to the 40-lap SK
Modified® feature event on Sunday, May 1st to kick off the day’s feature
races. Jansen will also be on hand during the CARQUEST Belts & Hose Pit
Party, performing some of her songs as part of the pre-race festivities.
Jansen hails from Connecticut and she has won several awards for her music.
Jansen won Best Female Modern Country Vocalist from the Connecticut Country
Music Association (CCMA) back in 2005. Also that year, she won Best
Recording for her original single, “Moments”, which is featured on the CCMA

Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., will compete alongside the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East heads to the Blue Ox 100 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Va., on Thursday, April 28. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate sits 12th overall in the K&N Pro Series East standings as the series heads to its first standalone Richmond event in history – on the undercard of a Saturday night Cup race at the .75-mile track. Better yet, Hodgson is fifth in the standings among a field of 24 rookies who have made a start in the series already this season.

The 2011 race season is almost here and Tommy “2 Step” Ricker with BMB racing is all set for the season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway

on May 15th. The drivers from New England and Canada get ready to take the green flag fly’s for the first time this season at OPS as ACT returns for the “WJJB The Big JAB, 150.” Tommy had a strong start in 2010 season but had some problems mid season which dropped him out of the top spot and he wound up finishing the season in 4th place.
