NHMS ACT INVITATIONAL ANNOUNCES MORE 2010 INVITEES

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) has announced another round of invited teams who have been invited to participate in the second ACT Invitational to be held at the regions largest sporting complex, the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The event will be held as one of three preliminary events leading to the Sunday, September 19th first ‘Chase’ for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. The ACT teams will join the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the Camping World Truck Series in a spectacular triple-header event on Saturday, September 18.

The first group of ACT teams, selected a week ago, represented the winners of 2010 championship events and track champion candidates with a few ‘at large’ selections. This announcement is primarily teams from an ‘at large’ pool who participated in a test and tune session last month at the Speedway. “This group represents sixteen (16) more teams in the selection process. This has been one of the most difficult jobs I have had in the racing business. We had 71 teams test and they all did a great job. They really are all deserving of being part of the 43 team starting grid. That is the problem; there are only 43 spots for 71 worthy teams,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

The following group will join initial invitees, Brian Hoar, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Karl Allard, Patrick Laperle, John Donahue, Eddie MacDonald, Guy Caron, Brent Dragon, Ricky Rolfe, Donald Theetge, Dan McHattie, Alex Labbe, Austin Theriault, Miles Chipman, Randy Potter, Nick Sweet, David Pembroke, Dennis Spencer, Jr., and Mark Hayward.

The next event on the American Canadian Tour is the Fall Foliage 300 at the Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. Many teams from both the ACT US and the Serie Castrol will be competing in the longest event of the year. The traditional fall event will award another possible invitation to the NHMS event. The final eight (8) Invitational positions will be announced on Monday, September 13, 2010.

Hudson Race Report for Sept 6th racing

Hudson NH – Jarrod Soucy had another heartbreak at Hudson Speedway on Monday September 6th. Just as the previous day, Soucy led all the laps of the race except the last two laps. Monday, just like on Sunday, he lost the lead when he chose the wrong way around lapped traffic. Chad Wendell was the beneficiary this time as he had been right behind Soucy for most of the race. Wendell finished first with Soucy in second followed by Justin Beecher, Meegan Lord, Sammy Gilman, Carlos Esquivel, John Daughenbaugh and Nick Fissette.

Harris wins O’Leary Buick GMC 150

Fredericton, NB – After Hurricane Earl made its presence known on the Saturday of SPEEDWEEKEND, the O’Leary Buick GMC 150 got underway on Monday afternoon with a strong field of 40 cars trying to qualify for a field of 26 cars.

Starting on the pole of the 28 car field was Myles Harris who quickly relinquished the lead to the #37 of Bradley Logan on lap 1. Logan would lead the first 26 green flag laps with Harris hot on his tail. On lap 27 after cooling his tires and settling in for the long run, Harris dove to the inside of Logan going into turn 1 and held the spot coming out of turn two. The two would go side by side for several laps with Harris eventually gaining the position “A” in first place.

Boniface takes Mod Checkers

Boniface takes Mod Checkers

Winchester, NH: Neither cool temperatures, light wind, nor the threat of a hurricane would stop a great night of hot racing at the northeast’s fastest high bank. More new comers would appear in our mini stock division in the #60 of Jason Parker who really made his first start last week and the #25 of Tim Griffith. As heat races started, it seemed that the cooler temperatures had really changed the track and racers were working hard between practice and heats to change set ups and get their cars to stick. After qualifiying, teams would still be working hard to adapt the car to the track and some seemed to really hit the nail on the head.
