O’Donnell Begins Threepeat Quest with Memorial Day Classic Triumph

gsdgdfgdfBarre, VT—Two-time defending Thunder Road “King of the Road” Derrick O’Donnell began his quest for a threepeat in dominating fashion with a win in the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 24.
N. Haverhill, NH’s O’Donnell quickly got to the front from his third starting position, moving around polesitter Nick Sweet on the outside to take the lead on lap eight. The 2013 Memorial Day Classic winner drew out to a big lead, but run into two-by-two lapped traffic at the halfway point of the caution-free race, allowing Milton, VT’s Scott Dragon to catch him.

Pit Notes: PASS Takes to Thunder Road in Open Practice

309-PASS South Print LogoBarre, VT—The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North took to Barre, VT’s Thunder Road on Saturday, May 23, marking the first time since 1995 that Super Late Models had been on the high banks. The four-hour open practice session was held in preparation for the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 24.

The day began badly for two expected contenders. PASS North point leader Mike Rowe blew an engine after just a seven-lap run. Defending American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. also lost a motor later in the session.
