Preece, Stuart, & Wells Score NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Sunday Feature Victories At Stafford

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway’s 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Weekend continued on Sunday with feature events for the SK Modified®, Late Model, and NorthEast Mini Stock Tour divisions. Ryan Preece scored a dominating win in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, XXX in the 30-lap Late Model feature event, and Toby Wells was the winner of the 25-lap NorthEast Mini Stock Tour feature.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Joey Cipriano took the lead at the green with Matt Galko settling into second behind him. Tom Bolles was third with Rowan Pennink moving up to fourth. Sean Foster was side by side with Curt Brainard for fifth for a lap before taking the position. Bolles dropped off the pace on lap-8 while Cipriano continued to lead the race with Galko behind him.

Sweet Puts on a Clinic, Wins Late Model 100

Nick Sweet went home with the winner’s trophy/hardware on Aubuchon Night after a masterful performance in the Late Model 100 Friday at Thunder Road.

It was the first win of the season for the defending track champion, who came from 18th on the starting grid in the St. J Auto No. 88.

Sweet shot underneath eventual runner-up Jean-Paul Cyr for 2nd on lap 52, took the lead from Brett Gervais a lap later and then quickly drew out to a commanding advantage.

DALE SHAW SCORES PRO LATE MODEL WIN IN OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY

oxfordOxford, Maine – Dale Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire outgunned Buckfield’s T.J. Brackett on a mid-race restart, then held off both Brackett and Tommy Ricker of Poland on a couple of subsequent restarts to win the 40-lap Pro Late Model main event in the Championship Series points opener at Oxford Plains Speedway Sunday afternoon. Kurt Hewins of Leeds, Rob Greenleaf of Bath and Corey Morgan of Lewiston were also triumphant in feature events on the program’s undercard.

Brackett led the top-tier main event for more than half the distance, holding off Shaw and Ricker until the eventual winner made a bold, three-wide move pay off entering turn one. Ricker and, especially, Brackett kept the pressure on the former NASCAR Busch North Series champion until the checkered flag waved, but couldn’t get by the wily veteran once he was in command.

Another breezy, cool day did not stop racers and fans alike from heading to the Wiscasset Speedway this past Saturday.  This was “Group Two” division racing and included: Strictly Streets, Mini Trucks, Outlaw Mini’s, Late Model Sportsman, and the flex race of the week was a ten lap backwards race.

Starting the action was the Strictly Streets feature.  Brian Robbins of Montville, Maine lined up at the pole position for the 20 lap race. Robbins took the early lead in the event and maintained a solid advantage, but faltered during the last two laps.  This allowed Guy Childs Sr. of Turner an opportunity to sweep away with the lead and take it to victory lane for the win.  Corey Morgan of Lewiston and Tasha Dyer of Arrowsic, battled it out for second and third, respectively.
