seekonkSeekonk, MA. – It took four years for Nashua, New Hampshire driver Norm Wrenn to find victory lane with the Valenti Modified Racing Series, but the wait came to an end Saturday night, when ‘Stormin’ Norman stormed off the fourth turn to the checkered flag to capture the ‘Seekonk 100’ in front of a cheering crowd at Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA.

Louie Mechalides picks up VMRS win at Seekonk. DeGasparre, Bruneau and Paiva celebrate with victories

seekonkLouie Mechalides picked up his third career Valenti Modified Racing Series win Saturday at Seekonk, holding off some late race charges from Tommy Barrett and Dwight Jarvis. Todd Annarummo jumped out to the lead from his pole position start, and set the pace for the first half of the race. Todd had his hands full, as Stephen Masse made his way through the field from his 11th starting position. By the time the race reached the one-third mark, Masse had closed in on the second generation racer, and put heavy pressure on Annarummo. Todd was able to hold on through a pair of restarts, but it would be lapped traffic that would be their undoing, as just past the half-way point, a car about to go a lap down struggled to find the right groove, causing Annarummo and Masse to get together.

Seekonk Speedway honors 2012 Champions

On Saturday night, over 700 friends and family members got together at the Venus de Milo in Swansea to celebrate and

honor Seekonk Speedway’s 2012 Champions in their annual awards celebration.

Taking home the top honors was Dave Darling of Rehoboth, and his car owner Gary Johnson of Pawtucket, as they
picked up their third Pro Stock Championship honors. The Bristol Toyota Scion team carried 4 wins on the season, and
did not finish outside of the top five all season. All three championships have come with crew chief Ronnie Pond.

Dick Benoit was named Rookie of the Year. Ryan Vanasse was honored as Most Improved Driver in the Pro Stocks.

Seekonk Speedway kicks off 67th season with Easter Egg Hunt!

seekonkOver 66 years of action, the Seekonk Speedway has seen many types of competition. From their weekly racing, thrill shows, Car Polo, Rollover contests, Ostrich races, and football. On Saturday, April 7th, you can add Easter Egg Hunt to the long list of activities.

The 1st ever Seekonk Speedway Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 9am, before any cars have a chance to tackle the 1/3 mile oval. It is open to all fans under the age of 12.

Holdridge Wins Seekonk DAV Race for Second Victory

Seekonk, MA– Mike Holdridge of Madison, CT., started 22nd in a 29 car field, took the lead on lap 65, and went on to win the Valenti Modified Racing Series, 100-lap, “DAV Fall Classic” race Sunday afternoon at Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA.

The win was the second of the season for the second-generation driver. Holdridge also becomes the eighth different driver to win the eighth annual event.
