Coby Starts Title Defense With Icebreaker Win At Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

tghnm(Thompson, CT) – A full house of fans was on hand to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for Icebreaker weekend, and the racing couldn’t have been better. Doug Coby swept the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour action by winning the pole and backing it up with a dominating win in the Icebreaker 150. Celebrating victories in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series were Ryan Preece in the Sunoco Modified Series, Marc Curtis in the Late Model division, Scott Sundeen in the Limited Sportsman, and Eric Bourgeois in the Mini Stocks. Other winners included Dillon Moltz in the Granite State Pro Stock Series and Scott Quinn in the Vintage Outlaws.

Griffith Looking For His First Granite State Pro Stock Victory This Weekend

VLF_9589Thompson, CT – Derek Griffith, the 18 year-old Hudson, NH native is looking to hang a Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Plaque in their trophy room come Monday morning.

Griffith, driver of the No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester Toyota Camry Pro Stock in the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) is competing in the 41st annual Icebreaker event and feels; this is their year to break out and grab and opening race victory at the historic 5/8thmile oval.

Ryan Preece Collects 11th Career NWMT Victory At Thompson

safagagfwThompson, Conn: Ryan Preece led a contingent of drivers to visit Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park victory lane in the final day of the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Xtra Mart. Preece was dominant in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race leading 137 of 150 laps. In NASCAR Whelen All American Series action, Charlie Rose held off Larry Gelinas for the Late Model victory while Woody Pitkat checkered the Sunoco Modified Series feature. Other winners were Derek Ramstrom in the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Randy Cabral in NEMA action, Chris Perley in the ISMA Supermodifieds, and Chris Turbush in the New England Truck Series.
