Mike Dunn Dominates for the win in the Sportsman Modifieds, Joe Krawiec tops the USAC Dirt Midgets

It was once again a busy, exciting action packed night at Bear Ridge Speedway. The children always look forward to this night as it was Bike Giveaway Night and with well over 50 bikes donated there were lots of happy kids Saturday night. Staunch Security was the nights sponsor and they had a huge display for ”Bully Awareness Night” and gave away close to 500 Shirts proclaiming “Bullies Suck” to promote awareness to the issue. All the 99Rock regular divisions were on hand as well as the Wingless Auto Group.

The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds saw Mike Dunn break a long dry spell and run to his first victory in a couple of seasons, leading the entire race. Although it was a dominating performance by Dunn, it wasn’t a run away and hide night as he had to endure eight caution flags over the 40 lap event. Tanner Siemons moved to second after a long battle with Jeremy Huntoon and claimed the runner-up spot at the checkers. Kevin Chaffee made a late race charge on the high side and claimed third at the finish. Matt Lashua crossed the line fourth but was disqualified for a carburetor infraction in post race technical inspection. This moved Adam Pierson to fourth and Richie Simmons to fifth.

The Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes found rookie Kevin Dickinson take the lead early and maintain it in spite of a couple of restarts and constant pressure from veteran Gene Pierson Jr to take his first career win in a Coupe. Gene Pierson Jr. was second with Josh Harrington making a late race pass on Tad Kingsbury to finish third. Kingsbury was fourth with Brian Chaffee completing the top five.

The Laquerre’s Sports USAC Dirt Midgets had a wild Feature with Jeff Horn taking the lead early. Joe Krawiec claimed the lead on lap eight. The race turned wild when on a lap ten restart Justin Phillips flipped wildly in turn one with a few other cars involved, just three laps after the restart from this Alex Rose also flipped down the front stretch with no one else involved. From there the race was much calmer with Joe Krawiec taking the victory over a fast closing Adam Whitney with point’s leader Jason Goff third. Derek O’Hearn and Will Hull rounded out the top five.

Ryan Christian’s dominance continued in the C.A. Miller Co. Limited Late Models winning for the eleventh time in thirteen starts. The competition is getting closer though as Christian had to work hard to take the lead from Walt Hammond on the sixteenth lap of the twenty lap event. Walt Hammond was second with Kelly Miller Sr. third. George Osgood was fourth with Toby Stark fifth.

The Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinder feature was an exciting event as usual with lots of three wide and even four wide racing. Zach Audet led a few laps before Owen Carbee took the top spot and looked to be on his way to the win. A caution on lap fifteen changed that though as after the restart they went three wide in turn three with Owen Carbee high, Kelly Miller Jr in the middle and Jason Porter low. As they exited turn four Miller Jr was the big loser in the deal with Jason Porter taking the lead and Carbee falling to second as Miller Jr fell through the field. As the checkers flew it was Jason Porter with the win. Jesse Durkee made a last lap pass to net second with Owen Carbee third. Danny Doyle was fourth with Buddy Welch fifth.

The Wingless Auto Club saw rookie Nick Comeau lead ten laps before Doug McPhail worked by him on the high side and flew off to the victory. Following McPhail across the line was Jamie Glidden in second with Mark Cole third. Sam Comeau was fourth with Nick Comeau fifth.
