2019 the 52nd season Twin State Ford night wins go to Kevin Chaffee in the Sportsman Modifieds, Melvin Pierson in the Sportsman Coupes and Will Hull in the USAC Dirt Midgets
It was Twin State Ford/New Digs for Dogs night and the racing once again produced an action packed night at Bear Ridge Speedway. As has been the case most of the season the weather was not ideal with some mid evening mist and sprinkles, being more of an annoyance than anything. Kevin Chaffee copped his third win of the season the Sportsman Modifieds with Will Hull topping the USAC Dirt Midgets. Melvin Pierson authored a dominating performance in the Sportsman Coupes with John Neddo tops in the Limited Late Models and Jason Porter picking up the victory in the 4-cylinder Class.
The DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modified Feature event saw Stephen Lary take the lead at the drop of the green with Terry Williams moving to second and setting his sights on Lary early in the event. After a three lap battle Williams Used the high side to take the lead with eight laps complete, bringing Robert Tucker with him to second. A lap sixteen caution for a spin by Nathan Locke tightened the field with Matt Lashua moving to third shortly after the green reappeared with Tucker starting to fall back through the field. Meanwhile defending track Champion Kevin Chaffee was methodically working his way towards the front after starting in the 13th position. After a couple of Mid-race cautions Williams and Chaffee put on a fantastic battle for the lead with Williams running the low line and Chaffee up high. The duo ran side-by-side for the lead for nearly ten laps before lapped traffic came into play and allowed Kevin Chaffee to finally clear Terry Williams for the lead. From there Kevin Chaffee led the last five laps to take his division leading third win of the season. Terry Williams finished a strong second with Matt Lashua third. Tim Tucker and James Fadden completed the top five.
2018 track Champion Melvin Pierson put on a clinic in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. Pierson took the lead from rookie Cody Gregoropoulos for good on lap five and steadily pulled away from the field, holding a large lead when the only caution of the race appeared for a backstretch incident involving Tanner Siemons and Josh Harrington, who were battling for second, with just two laps left in the event. On the final restart Pierson pulled away to take the impressive win. Chris LaForest crossed the line in second with Jason Horniak third. Todd Hayward, who started last finished fourth with Jeremy Hodge fifth.
When the USAC DMA Midgets took the green for the Feature rookie TJ Foster bolted into the lead. His lead was short lived however as a caution flew with two laps complete. When the green reappeared Justin Phillips took the top spot and held it until a restart on lap seven as veterans Dean Christiansen and Will Hull shot past Phillips and ran side-by-side for the lead for a few laps before Hull took the top spot using the outside, with the race going green the rest of the way Will Hull steadily pulled away to take his second win of the season. Dean Christensen was second with Joe Krawiec third. Seth Carlson and Jeff Champagne rounded out the top five.
The C.A. Miller Limited Late Models saw the return of defending Champion Ryan Christen, out since opening night due to a hot lap wreck. There was no magic for Christian though in the caution free event. Cary Moulton broke into the lead early and led the first ten laps before a 3 wide pass on the backstretch with John Neddo going high and Ryan Christian low, sandwiching Moutlon. When the trio exited turn four Neddo was solidly in the lead with Christian second and Moulton third. At the checkers it was John Neddo taking his fourth win of the season. Ryan Christian was second with Mike Santaw making a late race pass to finish third. Carey Moulton was fourth with Tyler Tremblay fifth.
The Peanuts Auto Four Cylinder Feature event was a wild affair that saw Jason Porter come from the rear after being involved in an early race incident to take the win, his first of the season. Kevin LaForest was second and Ricky Stylgles crossed the line third after leading the majority of the event but Stygles was disqualified after post race inspection moving rookie Westley Blake to third, Kyle Ashford to fourth and Mike Sherburne to fifth.
