Will Hull Powers to Victory at Devils Bowl Speedway

The Green Mountain Gear-Heads Sprint Cars of New England made their final appearance of the season at The Devils Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT as part of the gigantic Interstate Batteries Vermont 200 Weekend. Fourteen cars were in attendance but only eleven made the call for the 25 lap Feature as a couple suffered mechanical failures and Dan Douville, who ran to Victory the night before at Bear Ridge Speedway, executed a wild flip in his heat race. Although Douville was transported to the local hospital with a neck injury he is expected to make a full recovery.

Jake Williams and Chris Donnelly paced the field and when the green flew Donnelly immediately jumped into the top spot with Jake Williams second and Josh Flint, who was running a 305ci engine, third. Caution flew for Corey Sparks who went off the top of turn one with two laps complete. When racing resumed the top three retained their positions but Will Hull was looking to head to the front. While the battle raged further back in the pack Chris Donnelly had run to an impressive lead, steadily pulling away from second place runner Williams. After stalking Flint for a couple of laps Hull moved to third and set his sights on second place runner Williams. Just a lap later Hull blasted by Williams and began to noticeably close the gap on leader Donnelly. Using the high line Will Hull caught Chris Donnelly on lap twelve and made the winning pass on lap thirteen. While the action was occurring up front Adam Pierson, who started tenth on the field had made his way to the front pack, passing Jake Williams for third a lap before Hull took the lead. The lead trio stayed the same until Donnelly’s mount coasted to a stop on the backstretch as the two laps to go indicator was displayed by flagman Bob Bigelow, necessitating the last caution of the event. On the restart Will Hull easily pulled away from Adam Pierson to take the win. Pierson was second with Josh Flint third. Jake Williams and Clay Dow completed the top five.

With the victory Will Hull won his second consecutive Devils Bowl Speedway Sprint Car Title.

The FK Rod Ends/ O’Reilly Auto Parts Heat race winners were Will Hull and Josh Flint.

The next event on the Green Mountain Gear-Heads Sprint Cars of New England schedule will be Saturday, September 14th at the RumTown Speedway in Wentworth, NH.
