COVID-19 stay in place orders forces the Ridge to cancel week three of season
Vermont Food Bank Benefit rescheduled to 8/22

Bear Ridge Speedway

As COVID-19 progresses, and we continue to monitor Governor Scotts softening of his executive orders we to make those hard decisions on what we need to do with our regular schedule and special events.

Knowing that everyone’s safety is of the upmost importance it is still hard to have to pull another plug on a race night. Week number three sponsored by Dad’s 4 By Tool and Supply are now cancelled. Dad’s 4 By Tool will be coming back as the sponsor on September 12th. As you know Bear Ridge Speedway does everything it can to help a nonprofit each month. May 16th was supposed to be the Vermont Foodbank Benefit Night. Knowing that in normal times this night is important, in today’s atmosphere it is even more important, therefore we have rescheduled the very important benefit to Saturday August 22nd.

In our next press we will make the decision regarding May 23rd. We are just as anxious as everyone is get back to racing, but it is first and foremost more important to do everything we can to keep us all safe and healthy. We do know that when we finally are able to open our doors things will be different. Some of the things we all can start getting ready for: Everyone WILL BE REQUIRED to wear a face covering or mask at all times, except drivers when they are wearing their helmets. Social distancing will be enforced. There will be reduced numbers allowed in the pit area and in the general grandstand area. There will be no groups allowed to congregate before during or after the races. Participants will not be allowed to go back and forth to the general grandstands, and only drivers and official crews will be allowed in the pits. Everyone will be required to have their temperature checked before entering. No one will be allowed on the property before the gates open to save seats, due to the required screening that will be taking place. For those of you who are high risk, or not feeling well we know you love racing and want to be with us, but we must insist that you just stay home and be safe. Even though Governor Scott has done an exceptional job at keeping us all safe, as we begin to open back on the state, it can be expected that there will be people coming down with COVID-19. It is our goal at Bear Ridge Speedway to do everything we can to keep everyone safe and keep the risk down. We know that you will all understand us, and in your desire to get back to the Ridge will support our efforts.

Our first step to getting back on line will be to coordinate with state and local authorities for the approval of having pre-registration CLOSED practice sessions for 2020 Bear Ridge Speedway registered drivers only with a limited number of cars and people allowed on the property. License holders eligible will be contacted via email with the particulars when we have gathered all the approvals and are ready. These sessions will be CLOSED and only approved drivers and crews will be allowed on the property. There will be no spectators allowed. This will be a first big step in getting us back online, and we know you will all help us to make sure that we do it right, so that we can get to step two in our reopening efforts.

The State of Vermont’s stay at home executive order is still in effect. We will, as is everyone, continue to monitor the progress of opening our facility back up, and will keep everyone updated on the actual opening night as time progresses.

Knowing that the new norm will be different, the track management continues while practicing social distancing to get the track ready for racing, this also now includes making sure all of concessions and contact areas are equipped with safety measures to help keep everyone safe.

Applications continue to come for the “99ROCK wfrd” Weekly Racing Series divisions. Drivers remember if you want to be able to be considered for one of our closed practices, you will need to have your completed paperwork to us BEFORE hand, so please get yours in the mail today. All forms are available on line on the website. To be eligible for the Bear Ridge Speedway points fund, and recognized at the annual awards banquet, drivers must hold a 2020 Bear Ridge Speedway or DIRTcar license, compete in the required number of events and run on track designated tires as indicated in the rule book.

As we progress thru the month, we will keep you updated of any changes. As you know Butch won’t cancel till the last minute, so we are holding out hope that things may be swinging back to a more normal life in the next couple of weeks. The 99ROCK wfrd weekly racing season will then see weekly competition in all five divisions. Racing will kick into gear at 6:00 pm(ish), based on track conditions.

We at Bear Ridge Speedway hope and pray that everyone is staying healthy and safe. Please know we are monitoring the guidance from state and health officials, and are trying to act accordingly in the best interest of our competitors, employees, and of course all of you the fans.
