OSWEGO, N.Y. — Making his debut for Doug Coby Racing, Chase Dowling piloted the No. 10 Mayhew Tools NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour entry to an eighth-place finish at Oswego Speedway on Saturday, June 12.

Dowling qualified the car on the outside of the front row and ran inside the top-10 for the first half of the race. However, during the only caution flag period of the race, Dowling was forced to the tail end of the longest line for the restart after receiving a penalty to the end of the line from NASCAR for what officials said was a pit road infraction.

Dowling charged from the back of the line and only could salvage eighth, but was happy with the speed under the hood of the car at the end.

“We were pretty good, qualified well and just missed it a little bit on the setup at the beginning,” Dowling said. “At the end of the race, I thought we were really fast. We had to drive from the end of the line there and we never got a caution. Kind of a bummer end to the day for us.”

Doug Coby Racing will return to competition on Saturday, June 19, with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Riverhead Raceway. Team pilot and six-time series champion Doug Coby will return to the seat looking for his second straight win at the New York bullring after taking the Oswego race off and winning the inaugural SRX event at Stafford Motor Speedway.
