Robert Tucker Madness Night Winner in the Sportsman Modifieds, Will Hull wins Thrilling USAC Dirt Midget Feature

The weather was sizzling hot for the Dads 4 By Tools & Supply/Hoosier Tire East 4th of July Holiday Spectacular and so was the competition on the track for the 99Rock Weekly Racing Series.

It was Madness Night for the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds with well over $9,000.00 on the line, four 27 Lap Segments were run to determine the overall winner. Current points’ leader Robert Tucker claimed the overall win on the strength of winning the first and last segment, accumulating 22 points. Going into the last segment Adam Pierson was in the drivers’ seat, having won segment two and amassing only 11 points through the first three segments, but a loose wheel cover forced Pierson to the pits during a caution period to have it removed. He returned but could only muster a fourteenth place finish, giving him 25 points and second overall. Kevin Chaffee was third with 26 points. Tanner Siemons and Jordan Fornwalt completed the overall top five finish.

Bear Ridge Suffers another Rainout during the 2018 51st consecutive season of racing

Promotors Preston/Elms did their best to try to wait out the predicated forecast of rain with clearing expected around 6:00pm, but alas once again the weather man missed the mark, as the rain and mist came in around 3:00pm and just never left, forcing them to make the decision to pull the plug for the second time in 2018. Wells River Savings Bank will be coming back later in the season for their night of racing.

It was Bear Ridge Speedways Benefit night for New Digs for Dogs sponsored by Jiffy Mart of Bradford. The action packed night featured an extra Feature for the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes held over from last week and the Wingless Auto Club as well as all the regular features for the 99Rock Weekly Racing Series.

Walt Hammond Wins a Wild Sportsman Modified Main Event

Mekkelsen RV night at Bear Ridge Speedway proved to be an exciting and entertaining night with drivers taking wild rides in multiple divisions, lots of side by side action and the ever popular kids rides.

The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds found a new face on top as Walt Hammond led all but the first lap of the wild main event to take the win. Richie Simmons and Robert Tucker spent most of the first half of the race stalking Hammond for the lead. A caution on lap 19 for Walt Hammond’s son, Walter J Hammond who ended up on his roof in turn one the changed the pace of the race. Just one lap after the green reappeared Richie Simmons got turned around while battling Ryan Christian for second with both drivers restarting from the rear. 10 laps and a couple of cautions later leader Walt Hammond and Adam Pierson tangled while battling for the lead with Pierson headed to the rear for the restart. Four laps later Richie Simmons got turned once again, this time on the backstretch and ended up on his side with four other cars involved. From there the race went green with Walt Hammond taking the win. Robert Tucker ran up front all night and finished second with Kevin Chaffee third. Adam Pierson came back to finish fourth with Terry Williams fifth.
