Winchester, NH \u2013 The owners of Monadnock Speedway are very optimistic as they embark on the
\n2017 racing season. Modified racing has always been popular at the high-banked, \u00bc mile speedway and
\nwill continue to be the backbone of Monadnock this year.<\/p>\n

Topping the excitement at Monadnock Speedway is the return of the open-wheel
\nModified Series. Over the last several years, the speedway has developed a strong following in what
\nthey called the \u201cSportsman Modifieds\u201d. Written years ago, the rules were designed to provide an
\neconomical modified racing division \u2013 exactly the same as the ever-popular SK Lights that run at
\nnearby Connecticut race tracks. Going into the 2017 season, the Sportsman Modifieds will carry a new
\nname \u2013 the SK Modified Lights.
\n<\/p>\n

The SK Modified Lights are a Tier 1 NASCAR division making them eligible for both state
\nand regional points under the NASCAR banner. Running on a weekly basis at Monadnock as the
\npremier NASCAR division, any first time winner this year in the SK Lights will receive $1,000 to win.
\nLast year’s track champion, Bill Kimball, received $8,000 in Tier I point monies, the state
\nchampionship, a fire suit and helmet. The SK Modified Lights will run two twin 25-lap events that will
\noffer extra points and extra money. These added events pay $650 to win with a guaranteed $150 to
\nstart.<\/p>\n

Along with the weekly racing program, the thunder will roll as Monadnock plays host to the the
\nModified Touring Series for 4 of the 10-race series that is slated to run at several New England
\nfacilities. Thanks to series sponsor, EXIT Realty, a healthy pay-off and point fund will be offered for
\nthis 10-race series that can only add to the exhilaration felt by these open-wheel machines.
\nThe weekly Whelen NASCAR All-American Series will offer more excitement as the Super
\nStocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Lightening Stocks, and the Young Guns all take to the \u00bc miler. In
\naddition to the weekly Saturday night venue, the speedway will host the NEMA and NEMA Lights, the
\nPro-Four Modifieds, and the ever-popular Classic Lights. Also on tap in 2017 will be the Senior Tour
\nAuto Racers, better know as STAR, taking a step back in time with their antique race machines.
\nOne of the most exciting events on the schedule is the Firecracker 125 featuring the Modified
\nTouring Series that will include a spectacular fireworks display that’s sure to please fans of all ages.
\nAlso making an appearance in 2017 and competing in a 100-lapper will be the Granite State Pro-Stock
\nTour.<\/p>\n
