Barre, Vt.<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 Barre\u2019s Thunder Road hosts the 33rd<\/sup>\u00a0running of the M&M Beverage Enduro 200 this Sunday, August 6. \u201cThe People\u2019s Race\u201d is one of the most popular on the schedule every year and is shaping up for another successful outing in 2017.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event routinely draws 100 entries or more with the field full of amateur racers looking to tackle the Barre high banks. Cars will be lined up three-wide to start and there are no yellow flags during the event. The winner will take home $3,000 and bragging rights as the newest Enduro champion. Entry forms will be available the day of the event.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cEver since the Enduro was first held in 1985, it\u2019s been part of the tradition of Thunder Road,\u201d track co-owner Cris Michaud said. \u201cFor some drivers, it\u2019s been a stepping stone into becoming a weekly racer. For others, it\u2019s a chance to do something once a year that they might not otherwise get to do. Either way, it\u2019s one of the most fun events of the year for the drivers and the fans, and we always look forward to it on the calendar.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Allen Lumber Street Stocks will be part of the program as well with the annual Brian Perry & Sons Construction Street Stock Special. The $500-to-win 50-lap event is the biggest of the year for the division and is always a high-octane affair.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With a large field expected, the event could also have a major impact on the Street Stock point standings, as just 41 points separate the top seven drivers. Hinesburg\u2019s Cooper Bouchard ascended to the head of the class\u00a0on Thursday<\/span>\u00a0and leads fellow sophomore driver Brandon Lanphear of Morrisville by 11 points with six events remaining.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2015 Street Stock Champion Jamie Davis of Wolcott sits 17 points back in his quest for a second title. Alan Maynard, Kevin Streeter, Reilly Lanphear, and Kelsea Woodard are also in the mix, though Maynard\u2019s return\u00a0on Sunday<\/span>\u00a0is in doubt after a vicious wreck\u00a0on Thursday<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Post time is\u00a06:00pm<\/span>\u00a0for the 33rd<\/sup>\u00a0M&M Beverage Enduro 200 plus the Brian Perry & Sons Street Stock Special. The pit gates will open at\u00a02:00pm<\/span>\u00a0and the front gates will open at\u00a03:00pm<\/span>. Pre-race safety inspection for Enduro cars begins at\u00a012:00pm<\/span>. Admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.<\/p>\n
