\nEmma Monahan grabs first-ever Bandolero win
\nBennett holds off Blaskey to win Legends feature<\/strong><\/p>\n

WATERFORD \u2014 Marc Shafer was the winner of the Super X Car feature. Chris
\nLee was the winner in the X-Cars. Peter Bennett won the Legends feature.
\nEmma Monahan was a first time winner in the Bandoleros.
\nUsually the only people working at 1 a.m. are late-night talk show
\nhosts.<\/p>\n

Marc Shafer and his team were busy Tuesday night, however, to try to get
\ntheir Super-X Car ready for a 25-lap feature on Wednesday.
\n\u201cWe had to put in a new rear-end and a new transmission,\u201d Shafer said.
\n\u201cWe were up until 1 a.m. getting it done.\u201d
\nThe late-night work detail was worth it. Shafer took the lead on lap 13
\nfrom Jeremy Washburn and dominated the rest of the way to win his second
\nfeature of the season, highlighting the action duringt Wild and Wacky
\nWednesday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.
\nChristopher Lee, meanwhile, who has had a rough start to his 2018
\nseason, was able to take the lead early and cruise to his win in the
\n25-lap X-Car feature.
\nIn other action, Emma Monahan led all 20 laps for her first Bandolero
\nwin and Peter Bennett survived a frantic finish from Mike Blaskey to
\npost his second 25-lap Wednesday Legend win this season.
\nShafer was forced to work until the wee hours because his car lost a
\ndrive shaft last week, resulting in a last-place finish. On Wednesday,
\nhis car showed no ill side effects from the turmoil of the week before.
\n\u201cI had a lot of help,\u201d Shafer said. \u201cGuys worked their tails off to get
\nthe car ready\u201d
\nDave Yardley, who finished second, said he gave it everything he and his
\ncar had, but he couldn\u2019t catch Shafer.
\n\u201cHe had a good car,\u201d Yardley said. \u201cBut if there was a late caution, it
\ncould have been a different story.\u201d
\nDennyLee Hoffman finished third for the second straight week.
\nLee started ninth in the X-Car feature, but was challenging for the lead
\njust five laps into the race. He blew past Gregg Sajkowicz to get the
\nlead and no one could stay close to him.
\n\u201cI knew our luck had to turn around sooner or later,\u201d Lee said. \u201cEven
\nthough we\u2019ve been getting decent finishes, luck hasn\u2019t been on our
\nside.\u201d
\nCorey Caddick took second while Eddie Loomis blasted by TJ Racicot with
\ntwo laps to go to finish third. Loomis still leads by two points over
\nCaddick in the X-Car standings.
\nBennett took over the lead from Colin Haley on the eighth lap of the
\nLegends feature and ripped open a sturdy lead. Blaskey, however, who had
\nto go to the rear of the field after a collision with Anthony Bello,
\nmade a late rush over the closing laps and almost caught Bennett coming
\nout of Turn 4 on the final lap. Bennett, however, was able to hang on.
\n\u201cWe made a big adjustment before the race, and it was almost too big,\u201d
\nBennett said.\u201d Our car started to get loose. I thought it was Joey
\nTernullo behind me, but then I saw it was Blaskey. I knew I had to
\nbattle.\u201d
\nBlaskey finished second and leads by four points over Bennett in the
\nstandings.
\nEmma Monahan started on the pole and led for the first 15 laps of the
\n20-lap Bandolero feature. When the caution came out with five laps to
\ngo, however, Monahan had to prove herself on a double-file restart
\nagainst Ethan Simmons.
\nShe responded, In fact, her car was just as good after the caution
\nperiod as it was before the flag came out.
\nShe pulled away from Tyler Alkas and Brody Monahan to get her first
\ncareer win.
\n\u201cIt was crazy,\u201d Emma said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what to say. This is awesome.\u201d
\nRacing resumes Saturday at the Speedbowl with a 150-lap American
\nCanadian Tour feature. The SK Modifieds, SK Lite Modifieds, Mini Stocks
\nand Sportsmen also will be in action.
