LAKEVILLE, Conn.\u2014The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson\u2019s Research has been selected as Lime Rock Park\u2019s official charity for this year’s season, announced Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year, Lime Rock Park selects an official charity to support throughout the year and we\u2019re pleased to select The Michael J. Fox Foundation as this year\u2019s benefactor,\u201d Barber said. \u201cThis charity is especially near and dear to our hearts, as our good friend and former race car driver Sam Posey has Parkinson\u2019s. Sam has been a champion, not only on the track, but as an advocate for finding a cure for the disease. Through our fundraising efforts this year, we hope to have an impact on the lives of all of those who urgently need a cure, including Sam.\u201d
\n<\/p>\n

As the world\u2019s largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson\u2019s research, MJFF is dedicated to finding a cure for the more than 6 million people worldwide who live with Parkinson\u2019s disease. Since inception in 2000, the Foundation has funded more than $800 million in high-impact research around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Michael J. Fox Foundation is looking forward to the day when we can close our doors because a cure has been found,\u201d said Deborah W. Brooks, Michael J. Fox Foundation co-founder and executive vice chairman. \u201cSupportive partners, like Lime Rock, allow us to do more in our urgent pursuit of finding new therapies and speeding a cure for the millions of families touched by Parkinson\u2019s disease.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the Park\u2019s year-long fundraising efforts, all proceeds from the Sunday Royals Car Show, held on May 27,2018, in conjunction with the Royals Garage of Torrington, Conn., have been donated to the Foundation\u2019s grassroots fundraising community, Team Fox, where 100 percent of donations will go directly to fueling critical Parkinson\u2019s research.<\/p>\n

Lime Rock Park is also raising money via the Foundation’s website. Anyone who would like to donate or participate in raising money can learn more by visiting www.limerock.com\/officialcharity.<\/p>\n
