The point standings for the series are now final with Barre\u2019s Jeffrey Martin being declared the champion.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The final Twin State Series race was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 20 as part of Speedway 51\u2019s Octoberfast Enduro 151 event. However, that event has since been postponed twice. Speedway 51 has now rescheduled the event for Saturday, November 3, which is the same day as Thunder Road\u2019s 2018 Banquet of Champions.<\/p>\n<p>The situation was further complicated by an agreement that postseason awards would be presented by the track where the series champion regularly competes. With Thunder Road regulars occupying the top-2 spots in the standings by a comfortable margin, the rescheduling created a scenario where the track would not have sufficient time to prepare said awards. Based on all factors, officials have deemed it in the best interest of competitors to end the series schedule as-is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hate cancelling events,\u201d Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. \u201cThere really are no winners when you have to cancel. But we just didn\u2019t see a better option. We tried to work with Speedway 51 to find a solution that didn\u2019t force our drivers to either try and do both events in one day or choose between them, but they weren\u2019t receptive to one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologize to all of our Twin State Street Stock competitors and fans, and we hope they understand the decision given the circumstances,\u201d Michaud added. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to honoring the top drivers at our banquet on November 3, and we wish Speedway 51 the best with their season finale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jeffrey Martin won all three Twin State Series events that were contested between Thunder Road and Speedway 51, making him the clear champion. Thunder Road Street Stock Champion Stephen Martin of Craftsbury Common will rank second in the final Twin State standings, 29 behind Jeffrey Martin.
