{"id":24405,"date":"2018-12-17T09:31:32","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/?p=24405"},"modified":"2018-12-17T09:31:35","modified_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:31:35","slug":"monadnock-speedway-has-a-new-owner-for-2019-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/2018\/12\/monadnock-speedway-has-a-new-owner-for-2019-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Monadnock Speedway Has A New Owner For 2019 Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Monadnock.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21358\" width=\"511\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Monadnock.jpg 754w, https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Monadnock-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 511px) 100vw, 511px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monadnock Speedway Has A New Owner For 2019 Season\u00a0<\/strong><br>Winchester, NH. \u2013 It was three years ago that long-time local racer and Nashua, New Hampshire businessman Norman Wrenn Jr contemplated buying Monadnock Speedway, the quarter-mile high-banked race facility, based in Winchester, New Hampshire, but the time wasn\u2019t right for everyone involved until this past spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Wrenn finalized the purchase on Thursday, December 13, buying the facility from Larry Cirillo, and Fred Pafumi, track owners since 1984.<br>\u201cAbout a month before the track opening this past spring we met and negotiated a deal that would work for them, me, and my family, said Wrenn, who purchased Lee USA Speedway, in Lee, NH, last February.<br>Wrenn furthered, \u201cWe would have finalized the sale sooner but the application process for permits and licenses would have delayed the start of the season. We signed a purchase and sales agreement and agreed it would be best to finalize the sale after the season ended.\u201d Wrenn added, \u201cI have to thank Jeff Zuidema. If it wasn\u2019t for his persistence it wouldn\u2019t have happened.\u201d Zuidema will serve as a special consultant.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Cirillo, a one-time modified racer himself, won a season ending open competition 100-lap race at Monadnock in September 1983 and then went and bought the racetrack for the following season. 35 seasons later Cirillo says it was time. \u201cI\u2019m ready for the change. It\u2019s time for me to go &#8211; time for a new regime to come with new ideas. I\u2019m glad Norman bought the race track I believe it\u2019s in the right hands. \u00a0I\u2019ve accepted that it was time.\u201d\u00a0<br>The track will continue to carry the NASCAR Whelan All-American Series sanction, and in addition to their weekly divisions will host the Valenti Modified Racing Series, Granite State Pro Stock Series, Tri-Track Open Modified Series, International Super-Modified Association, and Northeastern Midget Association. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Wrenn also noted long-time Monadnock manager,Michelle Cloutier, will return with the new owners and serve as the tracks operations manager.<br>The speedway will open its season on Saturday, May 4th with traditional Spring Dash featuring the Valenti Modified Racing Series marking the 49th year of operation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Fans and competitors can expect upgrades at Monadnock. Brand new bleachers including handrails will be in place for the new season.
