The Annual Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 and Street Stock Special has been circled for months on the calendars of many racers and fans who look forward to the area’s biggest night of amateur stock car racing.

The 35th edition of the Enduro could be unlike any other in Thunder Road history. “The People’s Race” regularly draws fields of 100 cars or more and is expected to do so once again this year. However, this is the first edition of the Enduro since the construction of a new outer retaining wall around the track, adding a whole new element to the “organized rush hour”.

Despite Thunder Road’s new look, the rules of the game have not changed. The field will once again start three-wide around the quarter-mile oval and no yellow flags will be displayed during the event. Red flags will only be thrown if a driver is upside down, on fire, or in another dangerous situation. The first driver to complete 200 laps receives the $3,000 top prize.

In addition to being a spectacular event all its own, the Enduro has launched many racing careers. Current Thunder Road Late Model racer Matt White, White Mountain Motorsports Park Late Model winner Scott Corey, and multi-time Street Stock winner Dean Switser Jr. are just a few of the former Enduro winners. Last year’s Enduro winner Danny Doyle is now a first-year competitor in the Flying Tigers at Thunder Road.

“The Thunder Road Enduro is truly a unique event in Northeast motorsports,” Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud said. “The race itself is always a crowd-pleaser and this year will be no exception. It’s also an event that family and friends can bond over while building cars and spending the day at the track. We’re just as excited about it as the racers are!”

Drivers may still enter the Enduro up until 5:00pm on race day. The official rules can be found at www.thunderroadvt.com/rules.

The evening kicks off with the annual Bolduc Metal Recycling Street Stock Special for the Allen Lumber Street Stocks. The 50-lap event is the longest of the year for the four-cylinder class and gives them a chance in the spotlight before one of the season’s biggest crowds.

Barre’s Jeffrey Martin leads the way into the Street Stock Special. The veteran has spent the last seven weeks atop the point standings in search of his first championship. He posted his 10th straight top-10 finish this past Thursday and opened his lead up to 51 points over 2014 Street Stock Champion Tommy “Thunder” Smith of Williamstown. Martin is also the defending winner of the Street Stock Special, making him a clear favorite on Sunday.

A quintet of racers are tightly bunched behind Smith with any of them poised to pounce on a single Martin slip-up. St. Johnsbury’s Kasey Beattie is third in points and has been very impressive in his sophomore Thunder Road season. Veteran Dean Switser Jr. of Lyndonville is fourth followed by two other sophomores, Berlin’s Kasey Collins and Derby’s Tim Hunt. Two-time Street Stock Champion and former Special winner Jamie Davis of Wolcott rounds out the group as he tries to set up a late-season run.

Post time is 6:00pm for the Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 and Street Stock Special this Sunday, August 4. Admission is $15 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under. The pits open at 2:00pm and the grandstands open at 3:00pm. Enduro safety inspection begins at 12:00 noon.

Annual Enduro, Street Stock Special Arrive This Sunday Barre, VT – The event that many Northeast race fans spend the entire year looking forward to arrives this Sunday, August 4 at Barre’s Thunder Road.
