{"id":25645,"date":"2019-08-04T10:44:43","date_gmt":"2019-08-04T14:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/?p=25645"},"modified":"2019-08-04T07:45:21","modified_gmt":"2019-08-04T11:45:21","slug":"scott-moore-scores-second-career-super-late-model-win-at-oxford-plains-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/2019\/08\/scott-moore-scores-second-career-super-late-model-win-at-oxford-plains-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"Scott Moore scores second career Super Late Model win at Oxford Plains Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scott Moore scores second career Super Late Model win at Oxford Plains Speedway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/oxford.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20505\" width=\"262\" height=\"85\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/oxford.jpg 478w, https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/oxford-300x97.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Oxford, ME \u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;Scott Moore of Anson raced to his first Super Late Model victory of the season Saturday night, headlining the Budweiser Championship Series stock car racing card at Oxford Plains Speedway.&nbsp; It was the second career win for the veteran competitor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moore, who last tasted victory in the top class at OPS during the 2002 racing season, swapped the early race lead with Hebron\u2019s Alan Wilson before settling into an entertaining battle with Josh Childs of Otisfield, who turned in the quickest laps during the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Moore drove masterfully through lapped traffic to reclaim the race lead, and managed to beat a fast-closing Reid Lanpher to the checkered flag by .15-seconds.&nbsp; Lanpher, of Manchester, raced from 19<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;starting position to his second-place finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dixfield\u2019s Scott Robbins earned yet another third-place finish, just edging out Farmingdale\u2019s Johnny Clark for the final trophy.&nbsp; Clark, who started 16<sup>th<\/sup>, raced for several entertaining laps with runner-up Lanpher through slower traffic.&nbsp; Championship points leader Curtis Gerry of Waterboro rounded out the top five after starting in 22<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hometown racer Skip Stanley won for the second time this season in the 30-lap main event for Allen\u2019s Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock racers.&nbsp; Stanley won a couple of tough battles to earn his victory, holding off Lisbon\u2019s Rick Spaulding after prevailing in an extended battle with early race leader, and eventual third-place finisher, Pat Thorne of Standish.&nbsp; Current points leader Matt Dufault of Turner prevailed in a racelong battle for fourth position versus Peru driver Dan Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jake Hall of Oxford made his first appearance of the season an impressive one, leading the field of four-cylinder Bandit division racers throughout their 20-lap feature race.&nbsp; Hall\u2019s closest rival was friend Mike McKinney of Bryant Pond, also returning to action after an extended absence.&nbsp; Defending champion and current points leader Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls was the third-place finisher.&nbsp; Rookie Alex Mowatt of Norway and Poland\u2019s Jeff Libby rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dale Lawrence of Minot raced to his second Figure 8 race win of the year, leading the 15-lap race from start to finish.&nbsp; Poland\u2019s Larry Lizotte was the best of the rest, with Greg Durgin of South Paris earning the third-place trophy over the previous week\u2019s winner, Kyle Glover of Oxford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brady Childs of Leeds won for the sixth time this season in the Rookie divison.&nbsp; Minot\u2019s Dylan Cook had his best race, earning runner-up honors ahead of Arundel\u2019s Cole Binette.&nbsp; Owen Stuart of Naples and Norway\u2019s Jeremy Turner rounded out the top-five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Budweiser Championship Series resumes on Saturday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m., with five weekly classes, topped by the Super Late Models.&nbsp; It\u2019s the first half of a weekend doubleheader at Oxford Plains Speedway, with a 150-lap Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model race topping a special, Sunday racing card at 6:00 p.m. on August 11.
