Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park continues to get bigger as the day approaches. A flurry of new entries have arrived in recent days for the $10,000-to-win Midsummer 250 on Saturday, August 8 that will make it a showcase for Northeast Late Model stock car racing.

The ACT Late Model Tour kicks off the weekend with its longest, richest race of the summer. Championship contenders such as Center Conway, NH’s D.J. Shaw, Northfield, VT’s Jimmy Hebert, and Plainfield, NH’s Rich Dubeau will be challenged by a flurry of touring champions and outstanding local racers who are just as eager to get their hands on the five-figure prize.

One driver that everyone will be watching is defending Midsummer 250 winner Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH. The three-time ACT champion elected to forego a full ACT Tour season this year, but already has a victory at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway. As a three-time White Mountain winner in ACT competition, Helliwell is on the short list of contenders every time he shows up at the track..

A potential wild card this Saturday is Turner, ME’s Ben Rowe. The five-time PASS National Champion and four-time PASS North Champion will attempt his first ACT start since 2013 in a brand-new car built during the offseason. Rowe is a former winner at White Mountain in both ACT and PASS, so it should not take long to get up to speed. He has also entered the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Midsummer 150 on Sunday, August 9 and will do double-duty this weekend.

New Sharon, ME’s Dillon Moltz is also returning to successful stomping grounds this Saturday. Moltz and his RB Performance team returned to ACT at Oxford Plains Speedway after an extended absence, but as a White Mountain winner in both 2016 and 2017, they will surely have good notes to work from.

E. Bridgewater, MA’s Ryan Kuhn has filed his Midsummer Classic entry. The defending ACT Rookie of the Year was originally planning only a partial schedule in 2020, but after a strong start, he looks ready to challenge for the championship. Getting his first career ACT victory would be a big boost in the season-long battle.

Hudson, NH’s Joey Polewarczyk Jr. is also making plans to travel to North Woodstock. “Joey Pole” is one of the most accomplished racers in ACT Late Model history, but incredibly, he has yet to find White Mountain Victory Lane behind the wheel of an ACT car. With $10,000 on the line Saturday, he’ll be looking to add that missing piece to his resume.

Several drivers who are well-known on their local Late Model circuits have also committed to the Midsummer Classic. Wolcott, VT’s Marcel J. Gravel, the Late Model point leader at Vermont’s Thunder Road, has filed his entry for Saturday. Graniteville, VT’s Stephen Donahue is a multi-time White Mountain winner in weekly competition and finished runner-up in last year’s Midsummer Classic. West Burke, VT’s Jesse Switser has a win in a 100-lap Late Model race and will try to replace that as the biggest victory of his career. Waterford, VT’s Andy Hill got his first Late Model victory this past Saturday at White Mountian and will ride the momentum into the biggest show of the summer.

They’ll be joined by the ACT regulars who are chasing big money and crucial points. Hebert wants redemption after a heartbreaker in the 2019 Midsummer Classic while Dubeau is looking to jumpstart his title defense. For racers such as Christopher Pelkey, Dylan Payea, Tom Carey III, Alby Ovitt, Derek Gluchacki, and Trenton Goodrow, the stage would be the biggest one possible on which to snatch their first ACT victory.

The ACT Late Model Tour travels to North Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park for the Midsummer Classic this Saturday, August 8 at 5:30pm as part of a doubleheader weekend. The 250-lap, $10,000-to-win event will be joined by the track’s Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, and Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Trucks.

The weekend continues Sunday, August 9 at 1:30pm with the Midsummer Classic 150 for the PASS Super Late Models. The card also includes the PASS Modifieds plus Thunder Road’s Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors.

Saturday admission is $25 for adults and $5 for kids ages 12 and under while Sunday is $20 for adults and $5 for kids ages 12 and under. Attendance is limited to 50% of capacity per state guidelines.
