Group Time Trials for drivers who aspire to qualify for the $5,000 to win 100-lap event were also on tap.

In the DirtCar 358 Modified feature, rising young driver Tanner Siemons scored the first 358 win of his career, and he had to fight off one of the best in the business to do it. Siemons was able to fend off the challenge of Mike Mahaney after a restart with eight laps remaining to collect the momentous victory. Siemons and Walter J. Hammond led the field to the green flag for the 30-lap event. Hammond led for the first five circuits before Siemons assumed command on lap six. Once Siemons grabbed the point, he never let it go. Mahaney was working his way to the front from the sixth position on the grid, surviving battles with Hammond, Justin Stone, and Dave Camara to move to second on lap 21. Brian Calabrese was also on the move from the 15th starting spot. The red flag came out on lap 22 after a massive wreck on the front stretch involving Walter Hammond Jr., Tim LaDuc, Todd Morey, CG Morey, Lance Willix, Troy Audet, and Kevin Chaffee, with LaDuc’s machine landing upside down on top of two of the cars. After the lengthy delay for cleaning up the carnage, Mahaney did everything possible to find a way around Siemons, but the Orford, New Hampshire campaigner was not to be denied. Mahaney followed Siemons across the line for second, Walter J. Hammond held on for third, Camara was fourth, and Stone fifth.

Justin Comes has been red-hot in the Sunoco Sportsman Modified Division so far this season, and that didn’t change this weekend. Comes has already captured a first and third-place finish in the early going and is a potential championship contender. Comes set the fast time in Group Time Trials for the Northeast Crate Nationals with a sizzling second lap of 18.817. The effort not only earned Comes $250 in cash but a guaranteed starting spot in the prestigious 100-lap showdown.

In the Northern Refrigeration Novice Sportsman Modified Feature, Gage Provencher rallied from the seventh starting spot for his second win in a row. The former two-time 500cc mini sprint champion now has collected two wins in four starts as a rookie in the division. James McLellan fired from the pole to lead the first two laps. Rob Steves, the opening night winner, wrestled the lead away from McLellan on lap three, but when caution flew on lap 12, Provencher was knocking on the door. After racing resumed, the driver nicknamed “Pig Boy” slipped around Steves on lap 18 and held on to collect the hardware. Steves, McLellan, Gavin Fleury, and Rob Steele round out the top five.

The quickly expanding Stove Depot Crown Vic Division put on an entertaining show for the fans, with Andrew Lopes bringing home the checkered flag. Norm Morrill set the early pace, with Trevor Jaques attempting to stay with him. Jaques encountered a problem late in the race to end his chances for the win. Lopes was able to drive around Morrill to win the race to the checkers. Morrill, Levi Benoure, Bradford Cram, and Eric Friend completed the top five. Perhaps the strongest run was recorded by the rookie Benoure, who overcame an excursion into the swamp off of turn two to record a top-five run.

Levi Cram jumped to the early lead from the pole and cruised to a dominating win in the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprint main event. Cram survived a battle of attrition as only four cars were still running at the conclusion of the race. John Smith finished second, Alex Reed third, and Aiden Wade fourth. It was the first top-five finish for Wade in just his second career start.

Kaleb Shepard continued his strong start to the 2026 campaign as he rolled to victory lane in the Mini Stock High Handicap feature. Shepard held back a talented field of challengers with last week’s winner, Chris Charbonneau, placing second, Jeremy Brownell Jr. third, Brian Blake fourth, and Jeremy Brownell fifth.

In the Mini Stock Low Handicap feature, Ron Alger quickly fired from the fifth starting spot to take the lead and went on to earn the win. Jayde Pope, in a new ride for him, finished second. Bert Ouellette, Caden Stearns, and Richard Fleury also registered top-five finishes.

With steady rain throughout the day Sunday and more rain on Monday morning, Devil’s Bowl Speedway officials announced the postponement of the Northeast Crate Nationals portion of the Memorial Day Weekend special event. Speedway management will work with racers and teams in the coming days to determine a future makeup date for the Northeast Crate Nationals race. All wristbands from the postponed event may be brought back next Saturday night, May 30th, only, and can be exchanged for a $5 discount toward any grandstand, infield, or pit pass purchase.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman feature that drivers qualified for on Saturday will be run as the first race on the card at the May 30th show.

Saturday, May 30th, will feature all weekly divisions on the card and will be “Kids Poster Contest Night.” Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. The green flag waves at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15. Infield parking is $20. Kids 12 and under are free. Pit admission is $30 for members and $40 for non-members.

Official Results-Northeast Crate Nationals Night #1

Saturday, May 23rd

DirtCar 358 Modified Feature (30 laps)

Pos.
