Brousseau wasted no time in blasting to the early lead, while Chapin and Todd Patnode were staying glued to Brousseau’s bumper, Nate Wenzel, victorious here a week earlier, was charging from row five and, not far behind him, Leary was in hot pursuit too.

Wenzel claimed second on lap 33 and two go-rounds later took the lead by inches, bringing Leary with him as the two former track champs resumed their battle for supremacy from a week earlier. Close behind, was Eddie Gomarlo. The top two touched on lap 39, with Leary then taking the lead. Gomarlo roared into second on lap 63, but could do no better than ride in Leary’s shadow the rest of the way. Leary, Gomarlo, and Wenzel earning the top three spots, Chapin finished his strong night’s work in fourth, and Brousseau impressed in fifth.

JD Stockwell is getting used to wild and fan pleasing finishes in Twin State Truck Services Limited Late Model main events. A week ago, sparks flew and paint was traded between he and Dylan Zullo in the final feature laps, with Zullo claiming top honors. Saturday, in a not-so-different finish, it was Stockwell in victory lane.

Zach Zilinski led the first nine laps of Saturday’s LLS main event, with Robert Hagar then rocketing to the top spot and bringing Stockwell with him. The two raced glued together until Hagar opened the door ever so little on lap 29, Stockwell dashed in, and they rubbed in turn one, sending Hagar looping and Stockwell off to victory label. Zilinski stayed strong to come home second, and Green Mountain Boy Erik Smith was third, Hillary Renaud’s second strong outing netted her fourth on the night, and Mike Lashua was fifth.

Not to be outdone, a field of 16 swarming potent Pure Stocks staged a thriller of their own. Markus O’Neil, who had dominated his earlier heat race, and CJ Johnson sat up front as the Brattleboro Towing and Recovery Pure Stocks began their nightcap main event. O’Neil wasted no time in rocketing into the lead, bringing row two starter Josh Brigham with him as Johnson got hung out in the upper groove.

Carlos Grenier, from row three, took second on lap nine and, two circuits later claimed the top spot along the backstretch. With no give-up in him, O’Neil’s last lap efforts came up just short as he settled for second at Grenier’s bumper. Brigham shined in third, with Addison Brooks impressing in fourth, and Johnson finishing strong for fifth.

Randy Clark won a spirited LaValley Building Supply Pro 4 Modified feature, taking the lead when rocket man Rob Richardi’s ride pulled up lame on lap 11. Once in front, Clark never looked back as he sped off to victory ahead of Jack Dumas and Brandon Lavoie. Saturday’s Pro 4 outing was the first of many this summer on the high banks. Doug’s Auto Body Young Guns ultimate rookie Dylan Stati made his second race ever a memorable one, romping to victory in both his heat and feature races. Maeve Barry was second in both, while week one Young Guns winner Sofia Rego made her Pure Stock debut Saturday.

Monadnock Speedway will roar back into action next Saturday, May 9, when the Great Race Place will again host the 604 Modifieds atop a full card of NASCAR Local Racing Series action.
