There wasn’t much we could do about (a broken rear-end locker) at that point. We’re still as good as we were the first three races of the year. Bad luck is going to happen.

“The first three races were on three different types of tracks, and we ran well at all of them. No doubt, you’re going to have bad luck at some point in the year. We’re still really good. We had that bad luck at the start of the heat race (at 660), so we never really had a chance to recover.”

On heading to Autodrome Chaudiere this weekend: “It’s not a bad track. It’s like a smooth version of Star – it’s somewhere between Star and White Mountain (Motorsports Park). I loved it when we raced there with ACT. Last year, we were trying all kinds of stuff at the beginning of the year, so with what we had, I didn’t really like it. We’re much better this year; we’ve been a lot better over last 12 months than when we were last there so I’m looking forward to it.

“This one falls right in between being a driver’s track and the kind of track where you have to have a good car to win. You have to have a car, obviously, but you can gain a couple spots as a driver, too. You’re not necessarily going to make a big difference like you can at Star. It’s a fine line. You can do it with the right car, but you also have to pick your spots and know when to get up on wheel and try and get a couple more spots.”

On the level of competition at the top of the PASS North standings this season: “I think this has been one of the most competitive years in PASS history. Going into July the last few years, Johnny (Clark) was leading by 30 or 40 points already. You couldn’t ask for more parity.

Visit NERacingForum.Com for latest New England Racing community News and updates.

Get the latest New England Racing News in your in box, Join our Newsletter today

[adrotate block=”3″]

“People say Super Late Models separate the haves from the have-nots money-wise, but we’re not spending as much as others out there. If you do your homework, you can be just as competitive in this series as in ACT or somewhere else without having a huge budget.”

UP NEXT
The PASS North Series heads back to New Hampshire for its third race in the Granite State in six events with the PASS 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, June 30… Joey Doiron finished 15th at Canaan as a rookie in 2010, but he did not compete at the track last season.

Joey Doiron Racing: PASS North Series Joey Doiron Autodrome Chaudiere Race Preview THE STORY Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, heads north of the border with the PASS North Series for the Habitations Dany Lagace 150 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec, on Saturday, June 23.
