{"id":1012,"date":"2009-08-02T18:20:50","date_gmt":"2009-08-02T23:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2009-08-02T18:20:50","modified_gmt":"2009-08-02T23:20:50","slug":"all-star-speedway-8-1-race-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/all-star-speedway-8-1-race-report\/","title":{"rendered":"All-Star Speedway 8-1 Race Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Epping, NH \u2013 Another action-packed  night of racing action hit the high banks of All-Star Speedway on Saturday  night, and Eric Hudson continued his hot streak, collecting his third  consecutive feature win in the 40-lap All-Star Modified main event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">When the green flag waved, Hudson wasted  little time making his way to the front, with J.R. Baril hanging tough  in the second spot over the first half of the race.\u00a0 Joe Lemay  had moved in to challenge Baril for second, but a lap 17 spin sent him  to the rear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Kenny White, Jr. took up the challenge  next, while leader Hudson continued to stretch it out.\u00a0 At the  checkers, it was Hudson and the Newmarket Sand and Gravel machine out  front by several car lengths to score the win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Baril held on to post a solid runner-up  finish, with White grabbing the third spot in his first start of the  year. Lemay recovered from his mid-race spin for fourth, followed by  Rusty Ball, Bobby MacArthur, Dana Smith, Sumner Scott, and Norm Forrest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Grant Aither of nearby Exeter made  his first appearance of the year count in the Super Street main, as  he outclassed the field to collect his first career All-Star win.\u00a0  Sparky MacIver made a late-race pass to collect second-place honors,  with Rob DeAlmeida third.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Just a week after Cindy Sevigny posted  a win in the Fast-4\u2019s, Amanda Victoria became the second female winner  of the 2009 season after an entertaining run in the Outlaw Mini Stock  feature. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Victoria had her hands full with the  hard-charging Ricky Porter, but she held on to win by a car length to  collect the winner\u2019s hardware.\u00a0 Bruce Knowles scored third in  his first All-Star run of the year, followed by Sevigny, Ralph Sanborn,  Gary West, and Ken McIlvaine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">In the first of two features for the  Fast-4\u2019sit was Greg Cummings and Josh Hodgdon running out front for  the first 15 laps.\u00a0 The pair got tangled up while fighting for  the lead, and Jason Poisson took the high line past them both to grab  the point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Two laps later, Joey Fernandez got  out of shape in turn two, collecting \u201cUncle Dana\u201d Sullivan\u2019s VW  hard as he tried to get past.\u00a0 With the right front corner of his  racer badly damaged, Sullivan was done for the night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Poisson picked up the lead once again  on the restart, and went the distance to score his second win of the  year.\u00a0 Ken Mailhot, Tyler Mailhot, Hodgdon, Gary West, Cory Sullivan,  Cummings, Fernandez, Sevigny, and Dana Sullivan were second through  tenth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Ken Mailhot stepped it up in the second  race, holding off a late-race challenge from Poisson, who was looking  to double up for the night.\u00a0 Mailhot picked up his second win of  the year, with Poisson, Tyler Mailhot, Cummings, and Sevigny the rest  of the top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Mike Williams dominated the twin Strictly  Stock features, nailing down both wins aboard the Mike White entry. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">In the first race, Williams battled  side-by-side with Stephen Dubois for the first three laps before moving  to the front, and he stayed there for the rest of the 25-lapper.\u00a0  Mark Parenteau, Dubois, Rosebud Shea, and Ricky Porter finished up the  top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">The second time around, it was Shea  leading the first several laps, but in the end, it was once again Williams  leading them to the checkers.\u00a0 Shea, Parenteau, Dubois, and Porter  were second through fifth.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Epping, NH \u2013 Another action-packed night of racing action hit the high banks of All-Star Speedway on Saturday night, and Eric Hudson continued his hot streak, collecting his third consecutive feature win in the 40-lap All-Star Modified main event.
