Brian Hoar Heats Up In September
\n8-time ACT Late Model Champion Rolling Into Busy Stretch<\/strong><\/p>\n

GEORGIA, Vt. \u2013 Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., heads for the final round of the Vermont State Late Model Championship Series this Sunday, September 16, at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt., at just the right time.<\/p>\n

Over the past three weeks, the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger has won two straight ACT Late Model Tour points races and rallied to finish fifth in the Showdown at Chaudiere \u2013 setting Hoar and crew chief Rick Paya up for a run through some of the most prestigious races of the entire season.
\n<\/p>\n

This weekend’s Late Model 100 at Devil’s Bowl starts a three-week stretch that heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway next week and then the 50th annual People’s United Milk Bowl at Thunder Road International Speedbowl on September 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s fun. This time of the year is always fun,\u201d Hoar said. \u201cThey are the big events, and there’s some good money and some prestigious events. There’s no pressure on (ACT) points. We can go there and try and win the race and not worry much about any kind of consequences.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can go let it hang out and have some fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

The half-mile Devil’s Bowl Speedway is a perfect place to do just that, Hoar said. It’s turned into one of the racier places on the northeast’s Late Model circuit. Paved prior to the 2011 season, it’s the new home of the ACT Spring Green each May, as well as the host of two of the four races in the Vermont State Late Model Championship Series.<\/p>\n

Hoar finished second at Devil’s Bowl in his most recent start there, the I Am Vermont Strong 100 on June 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe only missed it on the first try there (in May), and we’ve been hitting ever since there,\u201d said Hoar, who also won a 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature at Devil’s Bowl this season. \u201cDevil’s Bowl races out really well. When I first went there to test over a year ago, before we even raced there the first time, it seemed like it would be narrow, but it raced out wide and really well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s almost so much room there, guys take different entry lines into the corners \u2013 conflicting entry lines at times \u2013 but it is what it is. It’s turned into a great place to race.\u201d<\/p>\n

The RPM Motorsports team enters the weekend off an eventful Top-5 finish last Sunday in the rain-delayed Showdown At Chaudiere at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec. Hoar started third, pitted several times for adjustments and repairs to cosmetic damage, but still rallied all the way to finish fifth. He was locked in a three-way battle for third when the checkered flag fell.<\/p>\n

It was a sign that the team is hitting its stride a the right time of year \u2013 just one week after winning the Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road to close to within eight points of the ACT Late Model Tour lead with race remaining next month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were definitely good last weekend,\u201d Hoar said. \u201cWe were fast, and we had a fast race car. We showed that. We definitely passed the most cars on the weekend \u2013 not that they award points or money for that.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut when the day came to an end, we recognized that we had a good car, and it was a fairly rewarding fifth-place effort for as many issues as we had. It does say something about how good the car was going and the guys made some fantastic adjustments. We were firing on all cylinders there.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
