We’re planning on running both cars, so it’s definitely going to be quite a difference. It will be a test of how much I can handle, and hopefully we can do well in both cars and show we’re a great team and can handle it.

“Because the Milk Bowl is such a huge race, and Thunder Road is such a tough track with so many great drivers planning on being there, just to get in the race will be huge for us.”

On what she learned earlier this month when she tried to qualify for the ACT Late Model Tour Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road: “It is very, very competitive. The close competitiveness of all of it was the biggest thing. A lot of guys are right there running around the same speeds, and you have to wait for them to make that one little mistake and take advantage of it. That’s very different from Canaan every week, where guys make more mistakes and you can take advantage of that.

“It’s a lot more competitive on the ACT Tour.”

On how she approaches a weekend like this at Thunder Road: “It’s a very big step this weekend, especially running so many events.

“Our approach (in practice and in the race) is that we’d rather be in traffic to learn more. We’ve accomplished a lot and had an amazing season – everything from Loudon out is just gravy on top of the turkey. It’s a very different approach for guys who have done it before – but for us, it’s about going and learning and trying to keep getting better and better.”

On her experience at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last weekend: “It was phenomenal. It was awesome. It was crazy. It was unbelievable. It was all of that.

“The whole team definitely had a great time. We had a lot of laughs. The weekend was awesome, and it was a lot of bonding experience for us. I felt so bad (about the finish) because the team had taken so much time to get ready, and I was bummed out for them.”

UP NEXT
The ACT Late Model Tour will wrap up the 2012 season with the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Saturday, October 6… Emily Packard will attempt to qualify for her first ACT Late Model Tour race at Airborne.

Emily Packard: 50th annual Milk Bowl Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl Race Preview Rookie standout Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., will attempt to qualify for her first People’s United Milk Bowl on Sunday, September 30, at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt.
