THE STORY<\/strong><\/p>\n

FALMOUTH, Maine \u2013 Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 40-lap Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25. Timmons finished sixth in the final Pro Series standings in his first full season of competition last year, and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine\/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge returns in 2013 with championship aspirations for the second-generation driver. Timmons won one event last season in a division that saw 12 different race winners in 13 events at Beech Ridge.<\/p>\n

Bobby Timmons scored his first career Super Late Model win in a 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in July of 2012.<\/p>\n

Bobby Timmons has competed in three PASS North Series races \u2013 two at Oxford Plains Speedway and one at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway \u2013 since the end of the 2012 weekly season at Beech Ridge and has one Top-5, two Top-10s and three Top-12 finishes in those events.<\/p>\n

Bobby Timmons and his father, Bobby Timmons Jr., have spent part of the offseason building a small-block Supermodified. Timmons Jr. raced Supermodifieds during his driving career. Timmons also competes in a go-kart on a dirt track in Saco, Maine, during the summer months.<\/p>\n

Bobby Timmons spends his off weekends during the summer working on the crew for Scott Mulkern both during PASS race events and at other Super Late Model events around the country.<\/p>\n

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING<\/strong><\/p>\n

BOBBY TIMMONS III, Driver of the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine\/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge, On his outlook for the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season at Beech Ridge: \u201cLast year pretty much as good as could be expected. There were some nights where felt we left a little bit on table, but overall \u2013 looking at the whole season in one picture \u2013 it really went about the way we wanted it to go. Sure, we left some races on the table, but some of the nights could have been a lot worse, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

On where he thinks the team needs to improve this season: \u201cA little is me, and a little bit of it is the car. I think restarts were a big thing \u2013 I was terrible on restarts. Some of it with the race car, it’s really just because it was our first time through it.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of it was points racing. I’ve never been good at being a weekly points racer. When you lose a bunch of points in one night, those can be hard to make up.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether the championship is an unrealistic goal for him: \u201cI don’t think so. That’s my goal, but that’s every racer’s goal. To come out and say, ‘I want to win a championship,’ I think it’s a no-brainer. I want to win one. You have to have good luck, too. Take nothing from Brad (Babb) last year, but some luck obviously played into his year, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically, the way I look to look at it, you have to make the most out of every night \u2013 especially your bad nights. The night last year when Steve Berry and I got into it \u2013 we were running for third, whatever happened happened, and I spun out and finished 15th. That’s a 20-point swing in one night alone.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to take what you can get and minimize your losses, so to speak.\u201d<\/p>\n
